Gabby Hayes usually came across 'that grubby old sidekick of Roy Rogers', but have you noticed that he could put on a fresh suit and look the gentleman whenever the scene called for it? He was known in real life as a cultured man.
Oh very true!
IMDb describes Gabby as "In real life he was the exact opposite of the characters he played on film. He was well read, well-groomed, serious and highly philosophical".
Both actresses in this film died young. Lynne Carver of cancer at age 38 & Beryl Wallace in the United Airlines (UA624) crash on June 17th 1948 which killed all 43 aboard. Beryl Wallace was 35 years old.
Damm. Way too young.
I never cared for Lynn Carver. She was so utterly plain-looking. Beryl Wallace, though, could get a man's attention.
I was told by my step father, he had met Gabby years ago. Gabby would arrive on the set in a limo and a suit and tie. When it was time to shoot. He would put on his western clothes and take out his teeth for the movie. When he was done for the day he would put his teeth in and put his suit on and climb back in his limo and leave.
OMG!! How interesting about Gabby! I often wondered if he had his teeth in, making the movies? Thanks!!
M guy 8 no GC vh😊😊😊
