  • The MI Corrections Organization hired Future Media to produce a video to address a common problem in prisons - prisoners assaulting corrections staff with fecal / urine mixtures. Joined by the MI Dept. of Corrections, the MI State Police and the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of MI, the Officer Dignity Initiative video was instrumental in passage of legislation that promises prosecution of these assaults with guaranteed added time to existing sentences.

I have to agree that you should assume stuff like that would happen to you if you sign up to be in that line of duty. They are prisoners for a reason. Also why put a female in a male prison? That is not smart at all, and is setting the female officer up to fail before she even starts the job. If you are that weak minded, that poop, or liquid from a person being throw on you makes you crumble, why are would you sign up for that job? Not to point out the obvious, but choose a different profession. Or at least get a job or position that you are able to handle. You cannot be weak minded and expect to survive in such an environment. Sounds like they are playing the victim in this video. But they had to have known the risks. Like you don't hear soldiers complaining about being shot or blown up while on duty because we know what we signed up for.

In Correction we must always be prepared for the unexpected. Its not nice at times. We must have thick skin or we wouldnt be able to do our job.
