I've got 2 pairs of these. The full length and the 3/4. They do provide some side to side stability but zero for hyperextension, rotation or front to bak. I had my physio test my knees with and without these tights. Whether or not they work for you really depend on the support you need. Even their white papers only list varus and valgus forces. Their other paper lists "perceived" stability which is mostly just in your head.
Aren't they? So, so happy I hooked up with them. I honestly feel like I have a bit of a new lease on riding. Now I just need to remember it's been a while when I head into the Park 🤣
I have been thinking about I had knee surgery to re attached my meniscus to my knee replace my PCL and to fix a tear in popliteus they also installed a inner knee brace . They gave me a knee brace but I also have been thinking about these . This up coming season will my first riding since 22/23 . I really wanna try these
Hey @kungfumtb, I would totally shoot them a message and get yourself sorted. Sounds like it could work for you. stoko.com/pages/contact-us They have an amazing return policy if it doesn't work out. Thanks for the comment
Great review... thanks for your perspective. I've been curious about them for some time, and now after having my right knee replaced, I'm thinking I'll get some for the winter season! 🎿
No problem at all, thanks for watching and the comment. They really have been great for me and I wish I had discovered them earlier. I also am on the list for a full replacement but keep putting it off because I can bike and function for the most part, except winter. I'm not getting any younger though.😜
Hey bud how are these for inside the boot , I notice the tempo ones are 3/4 length im thinking this one might better for a ski boot however not as warm
Hey Corey, I talk pretty in depth about that exact issue starting at 7:10 in the video, to sum it up, it was a non-issue for me. I am wearing snowboard boots though and am not sure if ski boots would be different. I wouldn't hesitate to contact @stoko5751 directly though as they are super responsive.
They're super tight on my hips and stomach. I'm not sure how much actual support they give to my knees. Every time I tighten the cables all I feel is that it's squeezing my hips and my stomach. I'm really not sure about these yet. Also, I'm a skier and they go way too far down my ankle toward my foot. Bootfit101 never wear your thermals inside your ski boots. I wear a brace on my left knee while I ski. If I wear these as they're designed and they extend into the ankle area of my skiboots They're going to dig into my ankles and calves. Unfortunately I think I'll be returning them.
@@jonnyhammerstix1535 Have you tried them yet? I know tons of skiers rocking them with no issues. I would reach out to Stoko and see what they say but I would also give them a go if you haven't yet. Thanks for the comment.
@@RidingThruLife I'm not trying them. I know better. I've been skiing for a very long time and I know what works and what doesn't. The product is well made but having wires and other material tucked in my boots is a no no. I wasn't impressed with the support either. It's not enough support to suffer through indented skin and shin pain. I'm not trying to be rude, just straight to the point. I ski bumps and Backcountry.
@@jonnyhammerstix1535 All good buds. I didn't think you were rude. You know yourself better than anyone else. At least there are multiple products out there that can keep us on the hill and Stoko's return policy is solid. Here's to a winter of Freshies!!! 🤟
Hey Scotty, I am not sure as I haven't tried, but I am thinking they would be great depending on your knee issues. I would shoot them a message as I am guessing they have someone in Moto running them. I only have the thicker winter base layer version as of right now. I haven't found the need for them for MTB as my knee is stable on my bike. Coming off might be a different story. lol
@@RidingThruLife I'll have to message them, I lost all my meniscus in my last acl surgery so I'm bone on bone in my left knee, that little bit of movement can be a pain sometimes when I have to dab it in a corner. I wear full custom braces
@@mrstriegel574 oh man, I hear you. I’m similar but in my right knee. They are super responsive so hopefully they can sort you out. They really have been amazing for me on the hill in the winter
Hey Lang Meng, that is a great question, and yes, I do drive with them on. I have never noticed them at all. They are a lower profile than they probably look and they sit in the curved part of the small of my back. I will really focus on that next drive to be sure, but I have not felt them so far.
I hadn't heard of them until your comment. Interesting concept. I think they are going after 2 different things but I could be wrong. Mojo looks like an external "bracing" system that takes your weight, 1/3 of it, and supports it via a spring so there is not as much wear and tear and the quads etc aren't working as hard, therefore your muscles are staying stronger so less chance of injury and longer ski days that way. Where Stoko is supporting instabilities, not your weight, in the knee and keeping it all aligned and together. They are also trying to be part of your wardrobe (base layer) vs something you need to remember to strap on. Not saying one is better than the other, but to me they look like they are trying to achieve different things. Would be fun to try them back to back. Thanks for the heads up and comment!
😮Yeah a lot of my braces though they are custom made and so that is something that you may have to look into. I wear braces because of the sports that I play I've been playing various sports for over 20 years and aint no pair of pants gonna hold. Up on a football field if somebody hits you in the side of your knee with a helmet braces also offer certain protections that a piece of fabric absolutely. Cannot also braces are also medically approved this equipment right here. I don't see any fda approval for it but like you said you're not a doctor but I only. Get FDA approved stuff how do I mind trying these pants? But this is interesting. I'm a 4 time gold medalist and football. I don't see people wearing these pants out there. I see them wearing braces for a reason. It's a contact sport but if you're not playing contact sports then this is for you😮 I would also like to work with your company and see what the difference is. I'm open to that too what's the company's phone number
Hey Goldenashton, thanks for taking the time to comment. Amazing work with all your accomplishments. 🏅I totally agree that these will not protect in contact sports and they are not supposed to. They are FDA approved it is on their site but here is a copy and paste, "Yes, all our products are registered by the FDA and Health Canada as a Class 1 medical device" I do not have anything to do with the company other than the fact I love the product and it has really helped me. I've attached the link to their website for you so you can contact them to learn more. stoko.com. 😀 ruclips.net/channel/UC_uODXQ49DUamNtfRvRB14g
Bummer, first I have heard of an insurer not covering it as a prescription. Thanks for the heads up. Just as an FYI for others, here is their take on the insurance side, pulled from their site, " All Stoko products are registered as Class 1 Medical Devices through Health Canada and the FDA. Our products come highly recommended by physiotherapists and orthopedic surgeons looking for a more compliant knee brace that supports active rehabilitation. This certification means all our products are eligible for reimbursement through Health Spending Accounts (HSAs) and Flex Benefit Plans by all Canadian insurers. As for general benefits plans, our customers have experienced many cases of reimbursement but coverage is dependent on the insurer as benefit plans vary."
@@alinp6094 I hope they are working for you? Mine are still amazing, I wear them daily when I am on the hill. Still feels a bit weird to not have to strap on the big brace as I was doing that for decades.
