I like so much how you explain: simple, direct, down to earth. Love your content, just discovered your channel. The FT-991A videos are useful to me in particular because I just purchased this radio but the concepts can be applied to other radios as well, and that's important.
Cool beans. I mucked around trying to learn the sequence of setting this up to use with my audio interface and messed up. Took off and will do a reinstall. Probably should read the online help first.
Hi Pablo! Thank you very much for this video. I will challenge myself on getting equal audio set up on MAC. But I might just end up with a Virtual Win Machine where VoiceMeter is supported for this purpose if I do not find right software on MAC. 73!
Hello! You should be able to find good software for MAC. Unfortunately, I do not have a MAC to create a tutorial. I did create a page on my website for the Linux equivalent called "Carla". A very decent piece of software to handle mixing and DSP, plugins, etc. I found the MAC version here www.macupdate.com/app/mac/62793/carla check if that helps. 73

Hello Paplo great video. i did put all the setting as you mentioned in the video bud when i ptt there is no audio to the tranciver. What should i look for ?
Hi Marc, look for VoiceMeeter patching first, this is the easiest one, is the microphone connected to the PC patched to the physical connection on the master section that corresponds to the radio? Second, is the mic input for SSB set to USB input on the radio? In the FT-991(A) is "Rear". Third, do you have set a digital gain on the radio sufficiently high? Hope that helps to start. 73
Can you play sound FROM the computer TO the FT991A? I have tried using the USB audio device as a playback device but don't see/hear it sending to the radio.
That is normal. If the sound from the computer is going to the radio then is not going to the computer speakers, unless the software you are using is able to send audio to two devices simultaneously. Now, when the sound goes to the radio there is nothing built-in on the radio that allows you to play the sound. The only way is to make the radio to transmit and listen with another receiver on the same frequency. This is how the radio plays the sound. Hope it helps. 73.
Thanks for the videos. What do you think is the best way to use my computer and speakers for just the audio of the FT-991A? I will use the supplied Yaesu Mic. The radio is connected to my computer with an USB cable.
Hi Tim, if you want to continue using the Yaesu mic directly connected to the radio then there is no need to install any software on the PC to listen through the PC speakers. You need to open the sound settings as I show on the video. Then go to the "Recording" tab. Select the "USB Audio CODEC" (this is the audio coming from the FT991A) and right-click and select "Properties" - Click on the "Listen" tab on the properties window and check the option "Listen to this device" then "Ok". All this steps will route the audio from FT-991A through your Windows PC built-in mixer. You can control de volume coming from the radio on the "Levels" tab on the same properties window. Hope it helps. 73, Pablo
@@VA3HDL Hi Pablo. Great video! I was just curious, is there a way for me to record the transmit and receive audio with my computer via the USB cable, while using the Yaesu mic? I'm looking to record both sides of my QSOs that way if possible. With the method you mentioned in this comment, is it only the audio being received by the radio that is being played back on the computer? Thank you!
@@biagioport3006 That is correct, only the received audio can be recorded when using a mike directly connected to the radio. The audio of the mike directly connected to the radio is not coming out via USB port unfortunately. 73

Hi Pablo. I programmed everything as you described. I also hear audio from the 991A on my computer monitors. I also see a signal from the external microphone on the to radio channel in the output section of the Banana mixer. In the 991a, however, only the Yaesu microphone works. I have set everything as stated in the 991A. Do you have any idea why it's not working? Greeting Detlev DG6DAJ

@@VA3HDL Hi Pablo. It's probably not the settings but the functions or operation. If I have set VOX, it works with the external microphone. If I press MOX, it works too. If I press the PTT on the Yaesu microphone, it only works with the Yaesu microphone. So I either have to press or set Mox/Vox or get the TRX to transmit in some other way.
@@detlevwabner8020 Maybe I didn't understand the issue you are having. If your problem is only with PTT (keying the radio to transmit) your options are CAT PTT, a foot switch or external switch connected in the back or D.VOX (Digital Vox not VOX.) I use CAT PTT and D.VOX mainly with my radio. For CAT I wrote a script that puts the radio in TX when I press the middle button of the mouse or specific key on the keyboard. Is this what you need or the issue you having? 73
Hi Pablo. First of all thanks for the help. You said in your video that you can press PTT on the Yaesu mic and audio still goes from the external mic into the TRX. This does not work for me. If I press PTT then only the Yaesu microphone works. If I get the TRX to transmit via VOX MOX, audio comes from the external microphone. Maybe I didn't find another menu setting there. I did everything you wrote. So if that doesn't work then I'll take a look at the CAT PTT.
