  • Gaslands Mad Max Buyers Guide Part 1: Shopping for cars
This is a selection of 32 cars that are great for customizing or for parts. I thought it would be great to share some models that I have bought either brand new or second hand. I often go to thrift stores and antique markets and enjoy finding certain cars. Finding a bag of cars at a thrift store is a great choice as you can buy several cars for $3-5 a bag most often. I have been able to find great War Rig candidates and other great cars at thrift stores.
I often choose cars that offer special parts such as large off-road tires or already have built-in weapons. Many of the cars shown are still available in stores and are great for Gaslands and customizations.

I love buying assorted bags of cars from thrift or charity shops! Not least because Hot Wheels are somewhat more expensive in Denmark, roughly around $4 for a new car. In a bag of used cars they are on average a tenth of that price. And even the ones that aren't immediately useful can be used for bits, like you mentioned, or they might suddenly inspire some crazy build. :)

Kinda late to the Gaslands party myself. Only heard about it yesterday actually. Been into the Mad Max/Twisted Metal stuff since the 90s, dunno why it took this long to get involved. Gonna try my hand at a 64 impala...
Glad to have finally found a use for all these old cars I'm always commin across and steppin on barefoot in the dark lol

CARNAGE DADDY Thats awesome, it’s a ton of fun and if you can revive an old car or beater into a Gaslands car that is even better. Check out my video on the original redline “the demon reborn” I will do more like that soon. I have a few redlines that are parts cars and would like to rebuild them. Thanks for the common, keep an eye on the channel if you can subscribe that is fantastic.

I'm doing the same type of game but I'm using War for Cybertron Micromasters, and modeling bases that will support both modes.

Where would one find a bus on that particular scale?
It seems to me that the buses are usually harder to find than anything else.

This says it should be 1:64 scale so it should be right. Johnny Lightning, Greenlight Collectibles and matchbox make some stuff that’s usually pretty close to scale

Yeah, a school bus. I managed to find one a week or so ago at a store called Tractor Supply Company.

Sweet video! Where did you source the bus from? Who is the maker? I really like that one.

Franklin G. Roberts III Thank you! I thought I had it shown in one of my “toy hunt” videos. I bought it from an antique market for $12. It is in fact a Hot Wheels Bus from 2000 or that is the date on the bottom. I am working on a conversion using a plastic bus for a client. It will be interesting what is best to use. Since they wanted open air towards the back, a plastic one is best. This thing has a metal body.
