It causes us to tremble not just because we are there when He was crucified... But because we are the ones, sinners who crucified, pierced Him on his side and brought Him there to be offered like a lamb on the cross
please let us use this Easter time to remember in our prayers our brothers sisters and children suffering in wars domestic abuses drug addictions cancers etc blessings to all
This is absolute perfection!! Normally as singers, we are told to focus on the vowels. To make them "round."But I like this guy's use of hanging onto the L's. I love watching his face move as the result of every choir director's dream. It doesn't get any better than this!
There is no “rough start”. This remarkable singer understands the art of the “build”. He obviously has the capability to offer “more” as we heard later in the song (AND THEN SOME, my god!!!) - he chose not to, because that’s not appropriate for the start of something so solemn. So much contrast, so much sorrow. I’m grateful to have heard this beautiful rendition, easily my favorite. Thanks for the goosebumps.
What I heard was an instrument (voice) that was tired and worn in his lower register. However, when his true range kicked his voice was impeccable. I agree the performance and arrangement was designed to build. He may have needed a little vocal rest because his lower register sound a little raspy. This was a very, very nice presentation.
Regrettably I also nailed Him to His cross, but thankfully I was also there when He rose up from the grave so we can also rise with Him to life everlasting! I will see you in heaven my sister!
Your message is just what I needed this morning of Good Friday. Yes, we were there not only as He hung on the tree but also when He rose from the dead. Yes, we will also rise with Him to life everlasting. Thank you, dear brother, for this great reminder. While awaiting our meeting in heaven, I will love and pray for you now. May Jesus continue to bless you and all your endeavors and keep your gifts, both sterling and golden. I immerse you in Divine Mercy.
Amen Amen Amen, this Maundy Thursday. Thank you Jesus for taking the stripes on your back for our sins. When we are not even worthy. This ensemble brings me to tears. SIMPLY PERFECTION!!!!!!
I just attended The Station Of The Cross and then Friday evening mass with this song sang earlier on. Beautifully sang... moved me to tears. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Profound and beautiful!! Praise the Lord Jesus for His love and mercy and His obedience to the will of His Father that took Him to the cross so that, believing in Him and in what He did for us, we would be saved. ♥
Yes, this will put you in the scene of being there, you can feel the presence of Jesus being crucified. Beautifully done, Thank you Jesus for dying for me and Rising so that I may live, what a God!! God Bless You.
The most beautiful version. I instantly started to Tremble and cry when he started singing. You can hear the pain and loss in his voice! Just beautiful
This song hits differently sung this song 14 years ago. but still i feel it deep in the soul whenever the melody pops up in my head. it brings healing, its quite nostalgic !
Wow. This Thursday before Easter, recognizing the triumph of Jesus over death, this is a very stirring message. Put all of your senses to work and imagine yourself there.
I’ve seen this performance many times before. However, this is the first time that I noticed that they left out the part where he rose from the grave! If you didn’t know the full song you wouldn’t see that this version left him dead and defeated and not alive and victorious!
This song focuses on the Crucifixion, not the Resurrection. Plenty other songs talk about Jesus rising from the dead. Let us have that Good Friday experience now with this song. I think a Resurrection verse for this song was added later.
This rendition is right out of the originally published lyrics by Eleazar Barton in 1899. They sing the first three verses 100% accurately. There was a 4th verse (below) in Barton's lyrics. Other verses have been added by artist like Johnny Cash and others, but what you heard in the video is 100% original. As has been pointed out the song is about crucifixion not resurrection. 4th verse: Were you there when the sun refused to shine? (Were you there?) Were you there when the sun refused to shine? O sometimes it causes me to tremble! tremble! tremble! Were you there when the sun refused to shine?
Just curious as to why his sings nails him to the tree and not cross ?? Either way this is the most beautiful singing for our lord ❤ went straight to my heart ❤🙏🏽
The song gives goosebumps and a remorse for one's sinful nature.
Thank YOU LORD JESUS for carrying my cross.
Perfection. You can feel the Holy Spirit. Truly he is anointed.
Hauntingly beautiful. Thank You, Jesus.
It causes us to tremble not just because we are there when He was crucified... But because we are the ones, sinners who crucified, pierced Him on his side and brought Him there to be offered like a lamb on the cross
Did He have much of a choice? It just dawned on me if He had a choice that adds to the sacrifice
AMEN
Amen brother. Happy Easter.
amen
So many people think it was the Jewish authorities, or the Romans, or the Pharisees that crucified Jesus. No it was me. I crucified Jesus! 😭
Happy Good Friday 2024. Today on this day Jesus Christ suffered and died fulfilling the new covenant, and saved us from eternal ruin
He got to be god, afterwards so not a bad deal.
Beautiful! Simply beautiful! Praise Jesus!
Such a beautiful voice, pure and mighty. Tears came to my eyes as it fits this Good Friday perfectly.
Praise to our lord and saviour Jesus Christ. Yesterday, today and forever.
please let us use this Easter time to remember in our prayers our brothers sisters and children suffering

Perfection never gets old.
I thought he started high but that was just a teaser! Phenomenal voice and arrangement. My Jesus mercy. ❤❤❤

I know for a fact I “liked” this 3-4 years ago. Yet here I am in 2022 having to relike this beautiful song.

@@billmcgeemusic I didn't come for the instrument, I came to hear the Gospel. I heard it.
