Well said, author. As someone who never watched any drama in his entertainment world, I discovered Cheng Yi purely by chance via Mysterious Lotus Casebook. Wow, what a surprise to me that such a marvel exists (in his entertainment world). I have watched all his dramas (but only his parts since I am only interested in Cheng Yi). What a superb, creative and artistic actor he is. It seems to me that Cheng Yi reads the scripts, the original books, and discusses with directors and other staff. Afterwards, he assimilates everything and comes to his own comprehension of the characters (as he hinted in his interviews). Once the filming starts, he becomes that character, which means he no longer plays the role (he is the character himself). What a secondary creation it is. I wonder how many of his fellow acting professionals will go to the extent he does for the roles they play. He seems to be passionate about his work. No offense to his counterparts, I would be surprised if there is another one like Cheng Yi among his peers. Again no offense to his fellow professionals, in my book, there is Cheng Yi and there are others (actors or good actors). There are plenty of good men, but Cheng Yi is one of the most extraordinary gentlemen with class (based on my several months' observations and anecdotal evidence). He is in a class by himself. Caveats: I am a total outsider who knows nothing about Cheng Yi's entertainment world. Please take my comments with a grain of salt.
