- Salvador Sobral will represent Portugal at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with the song Amar Pelos Dois. Salvador will arrive in Kyiv on Sunday, therefor, his sister Luísa performed in the rehearsal on his place. This was her second rehearsal. You can read all about Salvador and Luísa on eurovision.tv !

He has a heart problem.
Salvador has cardiac problems, so he just could go to Kiev last Sunday.

The first time I heard this song in Salvador's voice, I was completely astonished and could not control the emotion... I knew at that moment that we were facing one of the best songs of the 21st century and one of the best ever.

You know what ? I don't understand Portuguese but one thing I know, it doesn't matter that i don't understand. Those emotions which they give to this song are so wonderful. One of the most heartbreaking song in Eurovision. ❤ I really hope they will make it into final.
Shoutout to Luisa Sobral a fantastic performer in her own right. Her songwriting quality shines, but what makes it truly remarkable is that you can just tell she wrote it solely for the voice of her brother. She has her own twist on it, which is beautiful, but what makes it special is not only Salvador's performance but the care, attention and even love that has gone into behind the 'scenes' of it all. I'll be voting for Finland and Portugal come Tuesday.

During her stay in the US, she was nominated in the categories "Best Jazz Song" at the Malibu Music Awards in 2008; "Best Jazz Artist" at the Hollywood Music Awards; "International Songwirting Competition" in 2007 and "The John Lennon Songwriting Competition" also in 2008.
It says so much about her and the Sobrals in general that this woman, who's famous in her own right, decided not only to write a song specifically for her brother, but to take a considerable time out of her schedule as an artist and mother to take care of Salvador's performance.

Songs like Amar pelos Dois are a rarity in such a superficial world where style surpasses substance but it's also because of this songs that i still have hope in the contest. HiParagON He will only arrive on the 7th of May due to his health issues. He is medically advised not to stay too long away from home. Either way he will sing it don't worry :) Nice to know you are learning Portuguese. Wish Portugal will come to realize how friendly the Balkans are with Portugal and the Portuguese.
