Finally Reviewing a Jaeger-LeCoultre Watch - Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar

- In my eyes Jaeger-LeCoultre is most known for their Reverso and Atmos clock models. What might be a surprise to you is that they have been the so called "watchmaker of watchmakers" for a very long time supporting many top tier brands we all know and even own. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual is another beautiful example of fine watchmaking by the brand and I reviewed what is my favorite dial and case combination. Hope you enjoy it!

Which model do you love the most from Jaeger-LeCoultre?
Grande reverso 1931 tribute.
I like the entry level JLC master control anniversary edition with sector dial. Nice and plain and it punches way above its price point.
@@kojiattwood Nice choice, timeless!
Reverso tribute moon! Just modern classic design!
Now that takes phenomenal skill and experience to create a watch of that caliber.
My grandfather had two watches, his entire life. A Seiko 5 7s26 and a Jaeger Le-Coultre Reverso. He'd let me play with the Reverso, when I was young. He explained to me it was meant for Polo players. He didn't often wear that watch, but it was quite dear to him. After his passing, both watches were passed on to me - and I absolutely love it. It's amazing how small the watches were during that period, and how we're just about going through the whole "Massive Case" design movement. I think the time might be coming, for smaller sized watches to make a comeback. My dad actually wears a Datejust 36mm, which he thinks is the perfect size for him; despite having quite a larger wrist. Jaeger Le-Coultre is a masterful watchmaker, and are fairly prices in terms of what they offer. The all-time great is the Chocolate Reverso, absolutely stunning watch.
Beautiful story! :)
Amazing Story.
The review is P R O P E R! And quality and closeups is next level. Thank you 🙏
Thank you my friend!
Amazing, appreciate all the effort that goes into sourcing a piece and then filming it. My favorite JLC is the one they came out with this year, the Master Control Chronograph Calendar. JLC is a fantastic brand.
Yes, not always easy but it´s part of the game and i´m always happy when I can get my hands on one.
This watch is absolutely gorgeous. One of the most handsome watches I've seen in recent years. Great choice for review. Many thanks.
Glad you like it and thank you for watching! 🙏
This watch is perfect, would love to add this to my collection soon. Great video as usual!
Hope you do and thank you for watching! 🙏
I own the stainless steel version of this exact watch and I'm loving it. Yes, it is really convenient to set the watch with one push. Thanks for the review!
Awesome, yours is nice too, very sleek design and allrounder! :)
What a gorgeous piece, thank you for the review.
Thank you for watching!
JLC has always been one of my most favourite watches. Love to own one of this.
My favorite JLC is the Geophysic 1958. It’s a limited production to 800 pieces (steel version) and I am so happy to be the owner of one. It might literally be the perfect watch….at least for me!
As usual fantastic video with great information and shots. Congratulations.:)
Thank you!
I like how they did a subtle cut out on the minute and hour hands for you to be able to see the danger zone indicator when the hands are directly above it. That’s attention to details!
Yes, I really appreciate that as well since I broke a perpetual calendar in the past already haha
Swiss Watch Gang must have cost a lot to break a perpetual calendar movement! We should see more danger zones indicator for calendar watches even if its at the back or part of the movement side!
Beautiful! Enjoyed the review very much.
Glad to hear John! :)
I really like watches like this which have such simple and functional design. I especially love those hands. Doesn't overwhelm your senses. I just wait every Tuesday for your video.
Thank you for the support and glad you like it! The hands with two different types of finishing are really nice.
@@SwissWatchGang THANK YOU. For giving us these great videos
@@chiragnk602 :)
Now this is what I’m talking about!! Very, very nice!
:)
What a classy piece I've recently been really into the reverso Gran sport line, specifically, the chronograph.
Awesome! Glad you liked it and thank you for coming by.
Great review- thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked it! More to come 👌
I bought this watch in 2014 - the stainless steel variant. Getting it was difficult, because you could buy the steel ones only at Jaeger-LeCoultre boutiques. After two years, the watch stopped. It was revised by the company for free, but it took them three months. In 2018 the watch showed the 29th of February. It was again inspected for free and returned to me after three months. This year (2021), the watch suddenly lost 4mins a day. At 230 the amplitude was not great either. JLC first wanted money for the the revision, but then did it again for free and within 2 months. I love this watch and wear it every day. However, have any of you out there had similar problems with it?
Not really, bought mine in 2015 and works perfectly, haven’t even serviced it once
this is such a great watch - you even got the decade jump.
Exatcly! Well, had to push it quite a few times to jump the year indicator but wanted to show it :)
Excellent review and amazing watch!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏👍
Thank you sir!
My achievable dream perpetual calendar!
Hope you achieve it soon!
Wow, great video, this one's on my grail list 😉
Thanks! Deserves to be 👍😁
Great brand , was lucky to visit them last year . My fav from the brand is still the Reverso .
Must have been a nice visit!
Great piece! I adore Jaeger...would be great to see reviews on the new master control calendar / Chronograph....take care!
Thank you, will try to get those for future reviews.
Hmm. The perpetual in stainless is double the price of the master control calendar. I have one ordered and was wondering if I should spent extra $10k to get the perpetual... hmm
Well done my bro! JLC has amazing watches and would love to add a Reverso at some point!
Thank you! Me too!
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL MARCO.
Thank you Peter!
@@SwissWatchGang you're welcome Marco. When i receive my blessings i will absolutely cry with gratitude and happiness. I cannot thank God enough for my wonderful friends.
Perpetual calendar is my favorite complication because it is useful unlike a chronograph that almost no one uses.
Depends on preference, I love the visual aspect of chronograph movements but I agree with the use of them being a bit more obsolete. 😁
What is the use of danger zone indicator
Great video my man!
Thank you !!
Theres fading/imperfection on the month sub-dial at the 'DEC' mark. As a Haute-Horology, I would hope that they have a Haute-QC..
I think JLC is one of the brands that every collector agree that they make great watches, I think that the JLC ultra-thin is one of the best office watches, and the PC is definitely an executive level watch :D
Exactly :D
My only issue with this PC is that the date/day complications don’t update at midnight. The movement takes until nearly 3a to switch over, so it’s just wrong the first few hours every day. I played with the IWC watches with the KK movement and they snap over at midnight. I was pretty disappointed in that from JLC.
how much in US$ in Swiss ?
are also in Platin availble ?
Für mich ist das einer der schönsten ewigen Kalender die es gibt.
Freut mich!
great work as always. Please review a JLC master geographic!
Thanky you for watching! Will try to!
What is the use of danger zone indicator ?
Christine Palmer's gift to Doctor Stephen Strange 😁⌚
This guy done a good video 👍 and have a nice voice. Thanks You.
Thank you!
Beautiful watch!
100%
My favorite watch of all time
I can see why!
Amazing watch superbly built. More expensive than most ...but thats a different matter.
Which watch are you comparing it too?
Thank You!
Could you review the Jaeger “sector dial”? Love the date version but can’t see many for sale. Is it a limited edition? Maybe the classiest watch I’ve ever touched. I want it! Any info would be the helpful
Hey, I found two on chrono24. Just type in "1548530" and you will find them. It might be a very popular model as it seems and good value for the price that might cause the low availability on the market. Will try to get my hands on one👍
the most impressive part about this to me is the thickness (Or thinness, rather).
Ce modèle est précisément mon modèle préféré, mais plutôt la version argentée. Un rêve.
🙏
You never showed the moon face on this watch the best part !
You're right lol.
Your reviews are good, however, is this a pre-owned watch or a new one? I own a few JLC'S and are flawless purchased brand new. This piece sounds like it was used and someone was careless.
Glad I found this review. I'm considering a perpetual. This one and the IWC. This one is smaller by a significant amount. But it's a modular construction and it's power reserve for a perpetual is rather puny. This beauty is going to be living on a winder or your going to be spending a lot of time looking for tooth picks. Don't get me wrong the IWC has its issues also size being the main one. It's a chunky monkey and it's not a JLC. The watch makers watch maker. Oh and I believe the perpetual module is from IWC.
Glad you found it too and I hope you liked it. IWC module indeed, Kurt Klaus. If you want something sturdy get a Moser perpetual or maybe a Ochs&Junior if you like the look.
Question are the hands and indices solid gold or plated? If plated why? Great looking dress watch. Excellent review
Hey. I asked my friend on Instagram by the name of @jaegerlecoultre_aficionado and he said: "'Regarding the hands, they are made from brass and plated. The exception is for the hybris mechanica line where they do use some solid gold hands."
If you have more questions about JLC shoot him a direct message. He is the guru! 😊🙏
@@SwissWatchGang Thanks very much for the info
My pleasure, any time 👍🙏
Una calidad,,muy bien
So this is the watch worn by Dr Strange
JLC is the gentleman's watch... a slim profile elegant and beautiful watch meant for elegant men and women.
Well said!
Gold roter in the movement would have made it thousand times better
It's a beautiful watch, but it's a shame that even the gold models dont have polished bevels.
👌
:)
Muito bom
AMVOX Tourbillon GMT Black Ceramic, extraordinary watch... Súper design Jumping date 31-1 !!!!
Awesome yea!
Um relógio realmente luxuoso, pena que o meu bolso não suporta 😢
the watch would be perfect without the year window, it disrupts the visual balance, they could at least add a frame to the year.
It does throw it off a bit yea.
I didn't realize there's an blue enamel version of this model which had the year window tucked under the moon phase for better symmetry, bizzare that they have two designs of the same model going at the same time.
I imagine Santa Claus wears this particular watch.
at 1:13 you can see that the 1 relative to the rest of the "2019" text is not aligned. Sloppy.
I don't know what it is, I don't know how to explain, but JLC have that je nes sais quoi. Put two identical watches together, and the JLC will beat it everytime.
Agree 😊
Beautiful watch, but I’m not a calendar watch person and $35,000 USD is too expensive.
Glad you like it, well 35k is a good price for what you get so I don't think it's too expensive.
I really don't like the year indicator, looks messy.
It´s the typical Kurt Klaus module, most watches with that module have it.
5140 killer
Let me forget the corona shit... thank you man
🙏🙏
this will be my midlife crisis watch
haha good choice!
My god all that in an ultra thin case?
Gorgeous right?
Swiss Watch Gang I’ve loved the lange and patek alternative but it’s way beyond my budget. The normal case one I was looking at but this is up there with the grand and dato
I just watched it again. This is my new grail. Would you say this is better than the 8 day?
Value wise it does not get better then JLC. Look up how many ‘true’ in-house calibers RM has created.. They truly are the modern day Franck Muller aka over priced Nouveau Riche garbage!
Agree with JLC and the others just outsource and work with good suplliers and factories, nothing wrong with that approach as well I think.
Not gonna lie , Jaeger could use a better designer.
What do you mean? :D
@@SwissWatchGang the designs are a bit basic, they could use a good industrial designer to help their watches stand out. just my opinion
Good looking watch, but kinda scream "Daddy" watch if you know what I mean 😏... I'm more into their pointer date from them.
Haha daddy? 🤔😁
@@SwissWatchGang when I see this watch especially on the wrist, I can picture the owner have a trimmed white beards and a curly tip moustache dressed in suit surrounded by girls(or guys) calling him "Daddy!".... Kinda like that.
😂 Not a bad scenario right? 😁
@@SwissWatchGang lol... Idk, I'm kinda antisocial myself and I felt dizzy with crowds more than 4 person around me so I'd rather not 🤣. Though you could be one, just wear your suit like usual, grow your beards, and rock this watch, trust me, I'll call you Daddy 😏.
Movement looks boring at this price point. :/
Speaking in general or are we comparing it so another watch at this price ?
@@SwissWatchGang Breguet Classique Pertual Calendar for example
@@38201270298 depends which one but I think the one with the closed caseback has a F.Piguet movement as a base like the UJ in my latest review but not sure. But since this JLC is a modular perpetual I agree, it´s nothing spectacular but for this price I think it´s ok.
Power reserve is what???? 38 hours? It’s… too low… what a joke..
