  • Video abstract of clinical trial report “Consumption of nattokinase is associated with reduced blood pressure and von Willebrand factor, a cardiovascular risk marker: results from a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter North American clinical trial” published in the open access journal Integrated Blood Pressure Control by authors Jensen et al.
    Full article : www.dovepress....
Objective: The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of consumption of nattokinase on hypertension in a North American hypertensive population with associated genetic, dietary, and lifestyle factors. This is in extension of, and contrast to, previous studies on Asian populations.
Materials and methods: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-arm clinical study was performed to evaluate nattokinase, a fermented soy extract nattō from which vitamin K2 has been removed. Based on the results from previous studies on Asian populations, 79 subjects were enrolled upon screening for elevated blood pressure who consumed placebo or 100 mg nattokinase/d for the 8-week study duration. Blood collections were performed at baseline and 8 weeks for testing plasma renin activity, von Willebrand factor, and platelet factor-4. Seventy-four people completed the study with good compliance.
Results: Consumption of nattokinase was associated with a reduction in both systolic and diastolic BP. The reduction in systolic BP was seen for both sexes but was more robust in males consuming nattokinase. The average reduction in diastolic BP in the nattokinase group from 87 mmHg to 84 mmHg was statistically significant when compared to that in the group consuming placebo, where the average diastolic BP remained constant at 87 mmHg, and reached a high level of significance for males consuming nattokinase, where the average diastolic BP dropped from 86 mmHg to 81 mmHg. A decrease in vWF was seen in the female population consuming nattokinase. In the subpopulation with low plasma renin activity levels at baseline, an increase was seen for 66% of the people after 8-week consumption of nattokinase, in contrast to only 8% in the placebo group.
Conclusion: The data suggest that nattokinase consumption in a North American population is associated with beneficial changes to BP in a hypertensive population, indicating sex-specific mechanisms of action of nattokinase’s effect on vWF and hypertension.
Keywords: subtilisin NAT, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, von Willebrand factor, plasma renin activity

This was my experience. I used to briskly walk a 3-mile course.
My hands would swell and turn reddish by the time I finished the walk.
I started taking the prescribed normal dosage of nattokinase.
Within one or two days, the swelling disappeared and NEVER returned.

@@dieselboats7886You can easily order natto kinase capsules cheaply of many brands on the internet. Amazon is handy.
However fresh natto is also very high in vitamin K2 mk7 and probiotic Baccillus Subtillus.
I would advice to take 400 mcg K2 daily as well plus 5000 IU D3. And 300 mg Magnesium.
I love natto and have a big tablespoon daily which provides me with plenty of K2, natto kinase, and baccillus subtlis.
The B. Subtilis make it slimy, this slime protects the lining of the intestines which reduces any inflamation there of. This improves overall immunity.
I'm willing to bet, this way one can be perfectly protected against C***d. Better than any vaccine. The vitamin D blood level must be high, that is crucial. K2 and Mg make the D3 function optimally. 60mg daily of Zink is recommended too.
      Just a tip.
Btw natto kinase has been shown to break down c*v** spike protein by a Japanese study.

I'm 67 and I'm taking Nattokinase/12,000 fu and Serrapeptase/120,000 su and my blood pressure is all over the place anywhere from 191/102 down to 97/7l so I added 40mg propranolol and it is leveling off at around 145/90. I'm taking it to dissolve blood clots and relieve Sciatica pain of which is working for both in under 21 days. My mini vision strokes have stopped and I just had my first pain free day in 20 years. I will work on my blood pressure at a later date.

@@abyssmanur3965 It started off with the bottom half would go black for 2 or 3 minutes. Then after a few months the top half would go dark for 2 to 3 minutes. I was constantly after the doctor to send me to the specialist. I don't know why he hasn't set up an appointment? Well now the vision totally goes dark for a few minutes. I'm at the point where I think I'm going to go to the specialist myself as I seen him years ago so I will still be on file there. I quit taking Apixaban and Ramipril and went on Nattokinase/12,000 fu. and Serrapeptase/120,000 su and haven't had any major symptoms since. I still once in a while I get some ghosting of darkness but it clears up before the vision drops out. I have only been on the Natto and Serra for less than 2 weeks, so it's a big improvement so far. I hope this answers your questions.

@@johnkuncho7239 It started off 3 years ago. I would lose the bottom half of the vision in my right eye for a couple of minutes then it would return 2 or 3 times a day. That went on for about 1 year, then it started hitting the top half or the bottom at random. That's when I demanded that the doctor send me to the specialist, which took another year to see him and I'm still waiting for my next appointment in June. In the meantime, I was having full vision loss in the eye that would return. So I went on 12,000fu/ Nattokinase/ once a day and in 5 days it stopped, but it made me feel partly bussed so I reduced it to 8,000fu and now I get the feeling of it coming on but without vision loss once or twice a week. Hope this helps. PS Always take it on an empty stomach if you can. You want it to attack the fibrin in the blood, not the food.

That’s exciting news! It also may support what I personally experienced. I was diagnosed hypertension last year. Was put on Amlodipine. This helped at first but came with severe side effects, including fatigue and muscle weakness, dizziness. I lost 15 lbs using keto like diet and also took 2000 daily dose of nattokinase. Went from 135/105 to 100/75 avg. I noticed a relief in head and nasal pressure and elimination of migraines also. I do not know if my success was due to diet or the natokinase but perhaps it’s both.

I saw a completed study online claiming the nattokinase reversed plaque in Coronary artery disease patients better than statins did. Unfortunately sometimes these results are not made easily available. As for blood clots many online articles caution against its use if you have a known blood clot. Why? Because the clot can become dislodged and then get stuck somewhere else making things even worse or fatal. It does seem to be safe for prevention of clots if you don't currently have any when you start the supplement.

A single-dose of oral nattokinase potentiates thrombolysis and anti-coagulation profiles
      Abstract
Our aim was to determine the quantitative effects of a single-dose of Nattokinase (NK) administration on coagulation/fibrinolysis parameters comprehensively in healthy male subjects. A double-blind, placebo-controlled cross-over NK intervention study was carried out in 12 healthy young males. Following the baseline blood draw, each subject was randomized to receive either a single-dose of 2,000 FU NK (NSK-SD, Japan Bio Science Laboratory Co., Ltd) or placebo with subsequent cross-over of the groups. Subjects donated blood samples at 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours following administration for analysis of coagulation/fibrinolysis parameters. [As a result, D-dimer concentrations at 6 and 8 hours and blood fibrin/fibrinogen degradation products at 4 hours after NK administration elevated significantly] (p
