@@JustBrilliantAdventuresthanks for sharing the video. I’m drawing up plans for a diy off road van and I’m keen on incorporating a similar solar electronics cabinet similar to yours. Any chance of getting the dimensions of the cabinet including the depth please. TIA

@benmarca2 we are not back in Aus till 1 Dec. So ask after that on messenger and I'll get them. 🍻

It’s a great set up and I love your van but I have a question about the need for a 5000W inverter in the first place. All vans are wired with a 16A 240v system. You only have 1 x 2.5mm 240v cable protected by a 16A circuit breaker through the van. The system is limited to around 3840W in ideal conditions. What is the point of having so much power available when the CB should trip before getting to max output? Am I missing something here?

@beginners4x486 mate i will get the correct answer for you. As far as I know the van has been wired differently to normal. What I will say is. In actual use the efficiency of 5000W is between 85% and 90%, so the power that can be achieved by a 5000W inverter in actual use is below 4500W. For a 5000W inverter, it is one of the more powerful inverters and can run many appliances, including lights, TVs, toasters and other small kitchen appliances. What we want to achieve is run the aircon, TV, fridge and induction at the same time. A 3000w inverter won't allow that. 🍻

I'm a sparkie and rehashing my van so will give you a reply to that question. I'm splitting the 240V circuits after the inverter. Three subcircuits. The Air Conditioner will run off it's own circuit, also the fridge and the remaining AC power requirements will be on another sub circuit. With a Victron Multiplus inverter, there is a seperate AC output that allows you to have an AC supply that is only available if a grid supply is connected. Now if the inverter is setup to auto switch to grid 240V when plugged in, yes, you will be limited to the circuit protection from the park supply, usually a 16A rating. You can program the Victron to not do this and stay on inverter. It will then be taking power via the charger running off grid supply which would be approx' 10A, well within the circuit breaker rating, with the remainder of load up to the inverter rating being supplemented via battery/solar.
So yes, 5000w can be utilised fully if off or on grid.

@davidstapleton6792 thanks for that Dave. I just got them to set it up for Max use. I'm not a sparky as I stated in vid. 🍻
