Thank you so much for releasing this. I am a huge Marianne Faithfull fan and I have been searching for this for over ten years. At the time when this came out I was only 17 and was unable to travel from Miami to see the performance. I have spent so many hours searching for A recording from this. All that was ever officially released was one track from the performance "The Last Rose of Summer" on Marianne's website. This is Marianne's greatest stage performance, and thanks to you now her fans can see it. Again, thank you so much!

You're absolutely welcome Jorge Pacheco! I've had this recording for quite a while now. I got it as a DVD from a yahoo groups page. I've never seen any other traders offer it. I was in the right place at the right time :). I'm hoping somebody could use this recording to help translate the German language recording.

Robert Wilson's Music-theater work - a post-narrative masterpiece with narrative elements based on Carl Maria Weber and Hind's seminal opera "Der Freischutz" (The Free Shots). Wilson's visual incorporates into his "signature" surreal visual style German Expressionist Paining - as the title suggests, Kandinsky's "Blue Rider" movement and Bauhaus are prominently featured, though this is a black comedy. The great American writer, William S. Burroughs, in an end-cap to his career which included one of the greatest transformations of literary style in history, which is credited in part to him shooting his wife in Mexico City directly addresses this theme, though it was translated into German and never released printed in English. The texts he wrote were all presented to Wilson in a completely non-linear manner. Tom Waits was commissioned to write the music. He also both wrote original lyrics as well as incorporating couplets Burroughs wrote into his songs in this collaoration. Robert Wilson was responsible for all of the visual elements of the work and every movement down to the twitch of a little finger - notated in dance choreographic style. He also performed Burroughs traditional role used in his novels of organizing chopped up text into the equivalent of a "collage". The original Wilson production stands as one of the great works in the history of theater. This production is faithful to his style in detail, and while it premiered in Germany in 1989 and "ran forever (Waits compares it to Cats there), the original production only was performed in USA at BAM NYC about 8 performances, in German with vaguely descriptive surtitles of each scene - no translation of the text nor presentation of it in its original language - nice to see this vitally important work of one of America's great writers, though the production doesn't come close to matching Robert Wilson's in quality.

the hole in the back of his head where the heavy duck load came out was big enough to fit your foot in; if it was a small foot; and you wanted to put it in there.

1:15:14 That sounds a lot like the original actress from the german broadcast edit. Did they contact her to come back for this?

So fabulous that you have put this up. Thank you! I have looked to the internet every now-and-again to see if anyone would post any video of the performance. I can't remember what day I saw it on but I was already a fan of Tom Waits and Richard Wilson when I was able to get tickets for this for my partner, myself and another couple whom I gave the tickets to them as a thank you for stuff they had done for us. We had central seats near the front and all four of us thought the whole thing incredible. To see this again is just a marvel.
