The reason they didn't combine them I feel is GW seems to be of the mind of having a greater separation of Grots and Orruks than in old world. Like Grots aren't meant to be the cunning to Orruks brutal anymore that is the Kruleboys job. And thus Gitmob are meant to be the more Brutal aspect of Grots compared to the more kunning other Grot subfactions. Both are in destruction but are more their own thing with their own cultures and agendas.
One of a very select few such decisions GW has done that I think jive with their fan base: all greenskin players I've met have either been ORK GIT FER LYFE or GOBBAPALOOZA YAYAYAYYA and to give them proper, fully fleshed out separate armies seems like what they actually wanted all along?

They're definitely heavily leaning into The Old World but I do love the Age of Sigmar spice they've added to the Gitmob in making it so they have in essence magic solar panels strapped to their chariots and cavalry and that they use the energy of the light to blind whoever theyre fighting and sometimes just combust into flames since they strapped it to wood and whicker. Honestly a much cooler "fire army" than the Fyreslayers imo.
Gitmob Is AN other nail in the old world coffin...whonis gonna buy old world goblin stuff like Wolf rider and charriot when you have this new Amazing models
love the git mobs. the gitz book is big, but they don't feel like they should split of. with the krule boys, they are Urruks but don't really feel like they belong with iron jaws, but if those two split it would be a small battle tome.

As a Gloomspite Gitz fan, I really didn’t like the new models since they are more Kruleboyz aesthetic and split the faction into five armies (which wasn’t needed).
@@daedalus5253 that is true with only 7 units where 3 of them are hero’s with one I guess being a unique hero. They may work well with the squigs with their speed but I guess we will just need to wait and see the rule first. But at least the models look amazing
Can't wait to get these new gitz as my first destruction army, the remind of 40K Speed Waaagh so much. I just wish they had made them a separate book, not only because of what you mentioned about normal Gitz having moon mechanichs but also because Destruction only has 4 armies and it's really a hinderance at team GTs where you cant repeat battletome, a new separate battletome would be a blessing.
I think the weird association between Gitmob and the rest of the Gloomspite range lies with GeeDubs "mistrust" of Destruction's popularity. The fact Orruk Warclans is still one Battletome despite Kruleboyz and Ironjawz being two separate Allegiances also demonstrates that, imo. Basically, I think they don't believe there's enough people that like Kruleboyz (and only Kruleboyz) enough to collect the army on its own, and so are grouping the entire Orruk fanbase together. That way, an Ironjawz' player might collect some Kruleboyz on the side to complement his forces (and vice-versa). Gitmob is in the same chariot (pun intended). Not sure enough people will buy a Gitmob army ? Make it available to your already existing and large Gobbos fanbase. Even if they won't buy an army, they'll buy enough units to complement their own forces. Truly, you have to be an Elven fan to enjoy that sort of favoritism.
As someone who has a kruleboyz army I can't believe gitz got the wolves i've been wanting for so long. Especially with a hobgrot boss I thought "now is the time they're going to add some wolf riders or some such" and they did.. only to the wrong army! there's even kruleboy esque iconography on the chariots i'm so confused how are you meant to run these desert riders next to dark robe wearing fungus boys. Anyway rant over I hope the gitz players enjoy their new swanky drop
Same. Kruleboyz need cavalry. Giving us an Army of Renown big Wagh doesn't fix Kruleboyz by giving them access to Gor Gruntas, it just creates a 3rd sub-army with its own issues. If to get cavalry's mobility we have to lose the little mobility we had through Sneaky Sneaking, what was even the point? Sure, these goblins will have a Regiment of Renown we can run for mobility, but they won't interact with our rules, and they're bound to cram too many units in the RoR, making it cost so many points it damages the rest of our list-building and viability...
Tbh, there are still a lot of armies that need help. Fyreslayers, Idoneth Deepkin, Daughters of Khaine, and Ogors off of the top of my head. Gitz probably didn't need this, but I'm happy for them.

Supremely unhappy with the Orruk release, especially for Kruleboyz. The range is already thin as it is. While I'm sure faction terrain and manifestations are nice, I really was rooting for 2-3 new units to actually help diversify their range and listbuilding instead of just a foot hero for their chaff unit.
Gitz are amazing. Would like them to be separated from gloomspite but doesn't really matter to me. I'm fine with different races in the same book. It's like America and Japan both being part of the World Army. All Gucci.
I cant imagine theyll make the Gitz range any larger than this for a while, especially in terms of variety of the models. So far we have only seen Troggoths and now more Wolves get expanded on in the last 2 years, which imo seems like the direction GW wants to take the range at this point. You say that, but.... if the big Waaagh lets you take a gloomspite RoR... you can have scareshelds, boar boys and wolf chariots all in one army. I think they know in their hearts that most orc+goblin players will lean into all flavours and it's far nicer to now have to chase four books. Love that these guys love the moon so much they HATE the sun...and they are riding the most iconic moon related animals. This also means spiderfang can escape the badmoon lore a little more as well if need be. Lord i can't imagien how good spider riders will look if they get their day in the sun... pun intended. Saying that, Kruelboys + Gitmob would look amazing on the feild.
I am wondering if Kruleboyz has a larger player base than the Ironjawz. Are they popular? I love them but I also find a lot of people dislike it because of its design.
I have too many armies at the moment (8 armies) and I had lost a lot of interest in my Ironjawz (which was my first army) along side with my smaller Kruleboyz force as I originally got Kruleboyz because I wanted to mix them with Ironjawz and the rules for Ironjawz aren't very exciting at the moment. I really hope that the rules get better, in particular the Big Waaagh! army of reknown (I hope it won't be one of those many armies of reknown with bad rules) so that I can mix the orcs together again. The wolf riders look super cool... I'd be very excited if it was one of my armies. As for the endless spells and terrain piece, I'm really NOT excited for that... I already hate having to carry around ugly manifestations and terrain pieces for every army. Now these feel like (to me) like mandatory purchases and extra stuff to carry around... it also means that my Soulblight Gravelords will probably suffer the same fate (and now wonder if we'll get mostly spells and terrain pieces over units this edition) with their new stuff in 4th edition. I also couldn't care less about the generic Hobgrott hero that looks almost identical to every other little one but maybe he'll unlock some flavor.
It's a bit confusing, yes. My only issue with them keeping both in one is that it gives them an excuse to fix neither as a standalone army, and adding the army of renown big wagh just doubles down on the unwillingness to add models to address the issues, notably on the Kruleboyz side who just need one damn unit of cavalry.

It's also possible GW disagrees with KB needing a calvary unit. Perhaps their lack of calvary is a symptom of GW's very slow release of armies. FEC is a solo book and it took them how long to get a real army range?

Amazing models and weired release for gloomspite gitz. Those guys are totally opposite themed. Model wise they suit more for Kruleboyz. I hope they make them regiment of renown so we can add cavalary support to kruleboyz.
I do love that the orruks, giant muscles that are all about tuff… get a terrain piece that is some logs and a nice little tower perch… Meanwhile… Gitz, tiny weak little people who are scared by their own shadows are apparently carrying around a giant boulder in the shape of a moon and strapping it to the top of hills with massive chains… I feel GW forgot who is who…
Just returned after 10 years - Hate that they divided green skins, would hate to see them further divided. The old style models are way more fitting than these new anaemia orruks. The comic comedic cartoon styling was perfect imo so I’m using old style orks with night goblins and old style goblins (which are the same style as night gibbons). Way betta than these new skinny and pointy green skins even if there is less detail in the sculpts.
Imagine adding a subfaction whose identity it is to live somewhere else than the entirety of what has been established as the army previously. Meanwhile there‘s still models from the old world.
Personally I love contrast like what they did with the Kruleboyz and the Ironjawz so I'm a big fan of the Sunclans contrasting with the moon Clans but I'll definitely agree they should have prioritized new Stabbas and new Spiderfangs before this.
As someone who loves Gitz and owns 4000 points of them currently I’m HYPED for the new models but also they could have 100% gone to Kruleboyz or split the army and made the gitmob its own thing. It’s already called the Gitmob Army Set which makes it sound like its own thing too.

Can someone help me understand the obsession with splitting books? Wouldn't buying fewer books be more consumer friendly?

I am really concerned that cruel boys are not going to have any model releases this Edition. The new hero is kind of lame but I really love the tower and how you can put a hero on top of it to change the effects. Rob, do you think we're going to get models for cruel boys this year or next. Thanks for all your work

Amazing models and weired release for gloomspite gitz. Those guys are totally opposite themed. Model wise they suit more for Kruleboyz. I hope they make them regiment of renown so we can add cavalary support to kruleboyz.

Just returned after 10 years - Hate that they divided green skins, would hate to see them further divided. The old style models are way more fitting than these new anaemia orruks. The comic comedic cartoon styling was perfect imo so I’m using old style orks with night goblins and old style goblins (which are the same style as night gibbons). Way betta than these new skinny and pointy green skins even if there is less detail in the sculpts.
Kinda curious what they have planned for the ogors at this time if gitz are getting all the new model attention for the edition for destruction.

Gitmob aren’t what Gitz needed/wanted. They if anything belong more into Kruleboyz.
Imagine adding a subfaction whose identity it is to live somewhere else than the entirety of what has been established as the army previously. Meanwhile there‘s still models from the old world.
Personally I love contrast like what they did with the Kruleboyz and the Ironjawz so I'm a big fan of the Sunclans contrasting with the moon Clans but I'll definitely agree they should have prioritized new Stabbas and new Spiderfangs before this.

As someone who loves Gitz and owns 4000 points of them currently I’m HYPED for the new models but also they could have 100% gone to Kruleboyz or split the army and made the gitmob its own thing. It’s already called the Gitmob Army Set which makes it sound like its own thing too.
