I love the place even without a big station. That's my friend "Number 3" using my station to talk some skip while we were there. I don't keep a radio there, we just brought that Cobra 142, the little amp, and a Browning BR-28 Trucker CB antenna and used a couple dry wall screws to mount it to the top edge of the trailer. That is just a vacation spot. Starting at about 20 seconds you can see the Aubry Cliffs, at 21/22 seconds you can see a white stripe to the left down on the flatland, that is Route 66 and the train tracks that run from Seligman AZ to Peach Springs and on West.
Actually this one was like that when I bought it, but I have installed frequency counters in place of the clock on several Madison base stations before. They did leave the speaker inside the radio mounted behind the frequency counter, but I like the sound better using the external speaker.
Not Yet, but do see on a regular basis, mountain lions, wild boars, cows, road runners, cats, dogs, coyotes, wolves, dear, birds, squirrels, mice, rats, owls, and a few chupacabra
I was out on the airwaves yesterday I did hear 804 on 28 but I had to get out of my truck to look at some properties for sale. When I got back in someone must have had their feelings hurt because they were blasting boy george over and over. But I could still hear quite a few stations coming over it 😁
I know a guy that lives 71 miles away and over a hill, I can talk to him almost every night... he uses a Wilson 5000 Mag mount on his BBQ grill on his back patio... You should try that.
@@ironhead320 That is a Cobra 142GTL that I purchased at an estate sale. Someone added that frequency counter to it by removing the speaker and cutting the hole in the front of the radio. That was the only time this radio has been used since I bought it. I still need to tune/align it.
Thanks, that's my friend "Number 3" talking on a Modded Cobra 142gtl that I took to my old trailer on top of Preacher Hill in Arizona. I have an old mirror mount trucker antenna screwed to the eve of the trailer.
I picked that radio up from an estate sale not too long before I made this video and I haven't done anything to it. It looks okay and functions decent, but it definitely needs to be aligned. As you change from AM to Sideband it is quite a bit off frequency and also someone added a knob to the side that adds extra frequencies and those are pretty far off frequency also. you have to use the clarifier a lot to change bands/modes. I took this radio with me on this road trip to my property in the hills of Arizona and we talked on it as in this video, but the radio has not been turn on since then. I still need to get to it and align/tune everything.
it is just there for looks, it has a dummy load connected on the back. It's the same in any of my videos, and when testing amplifiers, it is always on a dummy load. I have over a dozen dummy loads, ranging from a small Realistic brand 15 watt, Catalog NO 21-506, as seen in this video here ruclips.net/video/-7f4gniezaI/видео.html , all the way up to a Huge 1000 Watt Bird Model DA-173/GRM-10, as seen here ruclips.net/video/kPJDbCBAQSU/видео.html . It is all just for show... You can talk skip all around the world with 4 watts when Mother Nature says so, No extra power needed.
I like that Turner +2 desk Mike 👍

Good looking radio, the blue lights and numbers look cool.
Thanks
Hey big cb radio this spot is a perfect place for a big ass base station man you are lucky to have this spot

Much respect to you “ Number 3”. Listening to cb radio brings good memories when my father used to cb talk from Tijuana to my uncle in Guanajuato.

Liking that set up especially the Turner Mic

nice location
Thanks, its about 10 miles northwest of Seligman AZ at a little over 6000 feet.
what antenna set up you running?
It is a Browning BR-28 Mobile antenna on half of a mirror mount with 2 drywall screws holding it to the top edge of the trailer. Not Kidding.
@@bigcbradio wow thats pretty cool. I'm running a similar setup on my f150 and its rare i reach out. when i do, its only for a few seconds
@@calypsonotch3953 Well..... I am cheating a little. The trailer is on the very top of a 6000 foot high mountain.... LOL
