Hi Wind Walk Travel, I just subscribed to your channel. The other day I watched your video Scenic Drive and as I mentioned in my comment, I lived in Redondo Beach from 1948 until graduating from RUHS in 1959. I spent a lot of time at the beach in those days. We made the paper, headlines, when 13 of us had to be rescued off of Torrance Beach when we got caught in riptide. I fished off the old wooden pier and when I was 15 set pins, the last of the manual pin setting machines, in a ten-lane bowling alley on the strand. This was like time travel. From what it was back when I grew up there and seeing what it is today. Someday I would like to walk that area like you did. It was the next best thing except I didn’t feel that off-shore breeze and that ocean smell. Of course, this looks nothing like what it did back then but it’s still Redondo Beach where I grew up. Thank you so much for being able to see all of these places without having to leave the comfort of my home.
Being a Torrance native, this was always the go to beach, and because it's not as well known, means that it doesn't get the tourist crowds, so it was much easier to go from the car straight to the beach and find a spot within a minute without ever having to worry about crowding others.
I grew up here, we moved here from Baumont, CA when I was 6, my mother passed away in Utah. We moved here and he got on Housing, and after 20 years I'm now busting my butt trying to take care of him. I had my own house in Utah a few months ago after being homeless. I lived by myself in a two bedroom house for $1100 a month and I had a job working for a Bread Factory making $4300 a month, I gave it all up to come here and take care of my father. I will NOT let him go to a nursing home.
Wish I was walking along that beach now ! - Its beautiful ! - Thankyou for sharing your your walk with us ! I'm a land lubber living right in the centre of the British Isle ! - Landlocked ! Haha never mind we still got our Leeds Liverpool Canal to mess about on ! All the Best & Manythanks for sharing !
Another good one Mr. Wind Walk Travel Videos Guy. Redondo Beach has a special place in my heart. I met a Canadian girl at Photoshopworld Las Vegas in 2011. We had a wonderful time at the conference, and just over two months later, we met up and went on Vacation together, in Los Angeles. The hotel...was The Portofino Hotel, in Redondo Beach. And I can see this area again now with the video!
Don vito Do you remember a fried shrimp place toward the end of the pier? It had the best shrimp in the world. I took every out of town visitor there. I lived on Esplanade, not far from here, when I had my first job out of college. My work took me far away and my heart aches when I see these videos. Maybe someday...
I came to Redondo Beach when I was 23. I am 56 now. I was born in New York City. I dated a girl from NY who had a brother working in Aviation sector in Redondo Beach. So we went to visit and stayed. I must tell you it was the greatest decision of my life. Affordable yes as we both held reasonably great jobs..But I did not own a home along the ocean as did some of my friends . Unable to purchase in the 1 to 5 million range North Carolina was my final home purchase.Again not at the beach.
Rode into this place while riding down from SF to HB on my mtb.Visited the pier where I ate oysters and visited the stuffed great white exhibit.Passed away a few pleasant hours.
Isn't it great how he doesn't have some stupid annoying voice-over the whole time, or worse yet, some ear piercing soundtrack ruining the whole thing. It's just....the sound of the environment, just like you would hear if you were really there. Authentic.
That rock formation is kinda small, i remember going to a way bigger one, but i guess it was not in redondo beach, maybe somewhere else but i can't remember omg I can't wait to go back to the us maybe later this year ❤
I grew up in North Redondo Beach Aviation Boulevard and Robinson Street remember going to Tony's Fish Market & Tony's Restaurant on the Redondo Beach Pier
Was a nice walk, but the pier seems to be in bad shape. Dirty, rusty, in disrepair, paint falling off... And the longer they ignore it, the more expensive it will become to fix.
Why don’t you introduce yourself to others and friends alike, not only the beach and pier but those familiar with planning in city hall like the mayor who closed the beach of R.B. and city planning of another new project to reborn the pier with the new AES property just bought out by some billionaire in helping keeping property taxes leveled. Not to mention king harbor has a new manager. Is change good? I think R.B. Is trying to be like Huntington Beach....”I don’t know” but I do know contractors come and go here all the time.😳
Grew up in South Torrance. Walked to Redondo and the pier. The pier was all wood when I was there. Fished off of the pier. Fishing boats came in with their loads and fish markets were plenty. Due to taxes, cost of living, illegal migration, crime, and congestion left the State and glad I did. Can’t pay me to return.

Same lol
I always came to the beach but sadly
I had to move to colorado
Why not move back?
Why is the beach so isolated? Is it too hot or some other reason why people are not basking under the sun like in Santa Monica Beach or Hermosa Beach?
it's mostly frequented by locals, more of a low key spot for tourism, which we like.
The low key characteristic is what brings me back every year since 2009 - the calm and relaxing atmosphere surrounding by a very busy LA.
Cause there gonebthe real 1's
like in gta 5
Was a nice walk, but the pier seems to be in bad shape. Dirty, rusty, in disrepair, paint falling off... And the longer they ignore it, the more expensive it will become to fix.
