The Yamaha RX100 was the go-to bike for two-wheeler enthusiasts back in the 80’s and early-90s. Back then, the Yamaha RX100 not only set a benchmark for two-stroke motorcycles but also single-handedly changed people’s perspective towards motorcycling.
The Yamaha RX100 was launched in November 1985 and the company kept manufacturing it until March 1996. The government’s decision to pull the plug on all two-stroke motorcycles ended of the Yamaha RX100's reign in India. But the success story carries on even today
The RX100 was the result of Yamaha going back to the drawing room after the RD350 failed to light up the market. But even Yamaha couldn’t have anticipated the outcome of their radical approach, making the Yamaha RX100 the legend it is today. The best example of this is that enthusiasts are still willing to handover hefty amounts of money in order to own a well-maintained example of the RX100.
The Yamaha RX100 was powered by an air-cooled, 98cc, single-cylinder, two-stroke motor that produced 11PS @ 7500rpm. Power was sent to the rear wheel via a 4-speed gearbox. The company also claimed a 0-60kmph time of 7.5 seconds. Furthermore, the Yamaha RX100 was not only reliable but affordable as well, making it accessible to many. The performance and reliability factor made it a winner in the eyes of enthusiasts. In fact, the Yamaha RX100 became one of India’s best-selling two-stroke machines, until it was replaced with the RX-G.
The part that makes us spring with joy are the rumours of Yamaha reviving the RX100, but with a four-stroke engine instead. However, our excitement levels have dimmed down as there has been no official confirmation from Yamaha as of yet. So, till we get a solid confirmation on its comeback, we can only wait and anticipate that the RX100 will once again revolutionise the Indian two-wheeler commuter segment. TVS Victor now competes with Yamaha RX

I didn't know about y1, g1, g2, g3. Learnt something new.
And the surface rust can b removed easily from the mudguard by cleaning throughly. But the exhaust bend pipe I think will go on corroding.
Only the 2001 RXZ came with disc brake and not Rx100 or 135.

We have a beautifully restored rx 100 black, all original chrome, rare G1 model, aftermarket owner installed disc brake. Seat original, engine built from ground up, no leak, no rattling handle bar, incredibly smooth power delivery ( minimal jerks ) and original exhaust with stock muffler... 😌😌😌😌

We have a rx-100(1990) model my father used to drive then I.. But due to no one was driving after I gone to hostel so it was sold for 30K . It was in a very good new condition.... But i will surely buy another rx 100 when I will be earning ..🤩

I bought this bike for 26k engine bored, 500 kms done and paint job done.
I changed all the parts like clutch plates, swing arm, oil seals made the bike as new putting all the new engine parts and accessories like leg guard, saree guard etc.. then came the final thing the paper work which costed me nearly 35k including 30k for the paper and 5k for RTA agent lol.
