Death..... the pioneers of death metal and how the genre evolved into what we have today. The 80's was the best time to grow up in the rise of metal. R.I.P. Chuck 🤘😎🤘

I recommend Spiritual Healing, one of the better and technically played songs of "DEATH". The whole album is great, whichever song you choose is a gem.

The drummer in this album Chris Reifert later formed Autopsy (he also does vocals) so maybe check Autopsy in the future.

Death is an acronym for "satan laughs as we eternally rot" 😅 Scream Bloody Gore original 1st UK pressing (Under One Flag) is a case of "Tie for longest song goes last" in its original release, as the title track, (4.35), is the last song on the album, and it is the same length as "Zombie Ritual"; they each exceed the third-longest song on the album, "Baptized In Blood", by some four seconds. Later releases add bonus tracks; the live version of "Choke On It", (5.56), closes out the 1999 version and well outstrips any other songs on that particular release. This is, however, an averted on other reissues, unless one simply disregards bonus material. Common in Death's early lyrics, and sometimes appears on later albums. "Living Monstrosity" is a good example: The lyrical content on Scream Bloody Gore and, to a lesser degree, Leprosy. Death moved away from gory lyrics with Spiritual Healing, and never looked back. Only four songs from those two albums survived in their live setlist: "Evil Dead" and "Zombie Ritual" from SBG and the title track and "Pull The Plug" from Leprosy. The album's cover art, a macabre tableau, further amplified the album's melancholy aura. It depicts a one-eyed skeletal figure in a purple robe, symbolizing death itself, presiding over a scene of three red-robed servants indulging in wine and gore. This encapsulates depiction vivid thematic imagery served as a visual appetizer for the metaphysical immortalization that awaited within the musicality of the album 🇬🇧
