- On vous emmène dans la suite de notre voyage autour de la Nouvelle Caledonie et de ses îles. Après les premiers épisodes sur l’Ile des Pins et la Grande Terre, départ pour Lifou aujourd’hui. Une des 3 Iles Loyautés appartenant à la Nouvelle Calédonie (accompagnée d’Ouvéa et de Maré).
Appelée DREHU dans la langue kanake locale, LIFOU est la plus grande des Iles Loyautés. Elle fait environ la même taille que la Martinique, pour 9200 habitants contre 370 000 en Martinique !!!

Very high quality video and wow Lifou looks amazing. I'm going to NC in October and only have 4-5 days to spend on either Ouvea, Ile des Pins or Lifou where would you recommend for best beaches and snorkelling (that's a big one for me)?
It’s a tough decision. The 3 have outstanding beaches and places.
In Lifou you have beautiful snorkeling where you can start right from the shore. In Ouvea i don’t really know, and in Ile des pins it’s less easy when going directly from the shore. You’d better go with diving clubs. If you scuba dive, ouvea is amazing. Île des pins and Lifou just behind.
All three islands (and Maré which is the fourth) are really unique and similar in a certain way. Île des pins is a bit more organized towards tourists, other island just a bit less

@@pedroetsesvideos4740 Thanks for the reply, how lucky you are to live there! Looks like it's Ile des Pins or Lifou as flights to Ouvea don't fit with my schedule (next time - it looks insane). It's just difficult finding accommodation because I've found the smaller places (gites) often don't reply to emails - anywhere you'd recommend on Lifou? (Somewhere that isn't a massive, expensive resort preferably!). I have a tentative booking with Nataiwatch so may just take that and then next trip I can do Lifou but any recommendations are welcomed.
Btw, what drone do you use? I'm assuming you just attached the GoPro to it right? I don't really know anything about them but for doing vids like these I'd love to get one.
For the drone it’s a « mini 2 ». Now drones have their own camera. You don’t have to mount your go pro on it anymore
For the accommodation, about New Caledonia in general, unfortunately structures that are not « fully professional » like an hotel for example are not very reliable about reservations. It’s quite random in fact. You can have your answers right away, and other times never have one…
For Lifou i dont really remember where we stayed. Just keep in mind the island is quite big and you can some time on the road to visit every parts on the island. I’d avise you maybe to split you stay in 2. Some days staying in the northern half of the island, and the other days on the southern part. This way you will lose less time when moving from spots to spots
For isle of pines, Nataïwatch is the better compromise between accommodation and price. I think they should answer to your emails (if not, tell me, I will advise their men in charge). Other than that you have hotels or campings. Nataïwatch is between those 2 types. And well located
