Been leasing cars for awhile now (as a salesperson). My trainer warns us not to use the word "renting". If you go to enterprise and rent a car, you can't trade it in, sell it, or keep it after your renting is up. With a lease, you have those benefits. It's a much better option.
Sounds like a possible idea to get what may be your last motorcycle. I may be something I do as I age out of the saddle. Selling your last bike would be a hassle.
Most new bikes in the UK are “sold” these days using a system called a Personal Contract Plan (PCP), a lease by any other name. Mostly they have an annual mileage limit. The end options are the same as you described, and they are usually manufacturers leases although they are underwritten by finance companies.
So I'm going to be working a temporary position in another state for three months and am planning to lease a motorcycle for that time, and I do have just a few questions: *Is it common / possible to lease a bike for only two and a half to three months, *Am I going to be responsible for any repairs the bike may need any point during the lease, *What should I typically expect to pay for a motorcycle lease if I'm looking for a more budget friendly option? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you, and great content.
Thanks for the informative video. I have a question, obviously financing a motorcycle negatively effects your debt to income ratio, does a lease effect it the same or does it not at all since it isnt technically a debt?
What about for first time riders who can't afford to pay cash for a bike, but can make payments on one? Also, could you do a video on sport-tourers. Which one is best to own or something like that. Thank you.
For first time riders I always recommend saving up for a cheap used bike if possible. If that simply is not possible, and you have no credit, it is possible to lease one to get you riding until you can build credit. Again I usually recommend being patient and finding something to save up cash for though! Since you asked, I will do a video on my favorite sport tourers here soon!
@@AlexSimmons11c Thank you for your response. I've seen bikes like a older Yamaha Warrior for $3k, Kawasaki Vulcan nomad 1700 just around $4k, Suzuki m109r and Suzuki M90 for around $5k. Just because I see those prices, should I be looking at those particular bikes or should I still look for something like, at least a Suzuki boulevard C90T for my 280lbs frame?
Got a question regarding financing a bike so I have no credit at all never had a credit card or any loans I’m 19 but I make 70k a year but I don’t have a down payment would I be able to be approved for a bike because of my income even with no down payment and no credit history
If you have good credit, Like 690 and you have a bike in mind that you know you’ll like long term even after the least term; would you suggest to lease to own for longer dragged out payments at low interest. For more cash in pocket each month? ty
Great video! I want to lease a mc, but where do we turn to do this? I live in WA state. when I Googled motorcycle leasing in WA I came up with nothing. Also, is it normal to want to lease a dual sport instead of a cruiser?
That depends so much on the rider, I think it really comes down to whether or not the new rider has good credit already, and if they plan to keep their first bike. I would never recommend leasing to someone who plans to keep a bike more than 1-2 years, if that is the case it is much better to simply buy it! For people that like to trade every year it can be cheaper and easier, but if you like to keep the bike for years then simply buying is the better option!
@@AlexSimmons11c ok thanks. The reasoning to my question is There's always that advice about trying before you buy, but its sort of difficult with larger investments, and ventures. Its not like going to a ski resort and just renting some skis for the day. Granted here in Canada its a tad bit pricey to legally be on a motorcycle on public roads anyhow
3 questions.. did you buy your continental gt cash? i know its a personal question if you don't want to answer that's fine. and 2nd question do you have any idea when the 2021 interceptor 650 are coming to the market? if so are there any changes that you are aware of?
Yes I paid cash for the Conti, it was cheap enough I just went for it. I do not know when the 2021 stuff will hit the US, likely not until December or later (if I go by past experiences), and I doubt they will change the Interceptor yet.
@@AlexSimmons11c hey man, thx for the reply bro, i appreciate it. i've been trying to purchase an interceptor mark three for 6K out the door and not one dealership wants to do it where i live, which is NY. the closest one i found is around 6400 but that's in Boston Massachusetts about 4 to 5hrs away. i feel like if i'm going to spend more than 6k i might as well get the new kawasaki 650 since its already known to be reliable, with tubeless tires, which is a big plus for me. i feel i would get more value for my money considering the fact that the kawasaki is only a thousand extra. i do plan to keep it for a long time and it will be my only mode of transportation. what are your thoughts? i really like the interceptor but idk man. would your dealership let me out the door with a brand new mark three for 6k?
At end of lease, to buy the bike, do we pay the residual value of the original value of bike when it was bought OR the value of the bike in the market at the end of the lease?
I have a lease from moto lease, had the motorcycle for 2 years and only put 30 miles on it runs like crap its undriveable,do i have to do the repairs or bring it back to dealer
Why/who would ever trade a motorcycle at a stealership? Sell it private party, always. If you are upside down....make bigger payments or pay down the principle.
That's usually who will trade them, in my experience it will usually be people who financed the bike and want to finance the next one, so going the dealer route is just easier...even if they get less on trade haha
I am really really interested in leasing a motorcycle and this is the first time I hear about it! I understand you cannot narrow down a payment but what is the average monthly payment on a lease? Second question after my lease is over and I do not want to keep the motorcycle can I just walk away from it and return it?
It depends on how often you would usually trade and how much you ride really. If you ride a LOT and tend to trade a lot then it can be worth it, because you won't lose your ass on the trade value, but if you tend to keep a bike a long time or you want to keep it a long time it's better to finance. The payout usually is a little on the high side after a couple years, but that also depends a lot on which lease company you use!
Hey Alex, could you please share what shop you work at? I'm having a hard time finding a dealership in my state. I'm willing to travel out of state if need be. Can we lease out of state? Thank you.
It depends on what company the lease was through, but most of them will let you trade to a different bike as long as you are signing another lease. Sorry for the delay while I was gone!
Most leases will give you a buyout option if you end up liking the bike enough to want to keep it, though it usually will cost you more in total than if you were to just buy the bike to begin with.
Good info bro. I only put on 2080 miles a year on my bike. It's a 2002 Deuce and only has 14××× mile on it. I drive a truck during the week and have a Saturday off... I ride.
Freaking light at the end of the tunnel for me looking for leasing dealers in ny. Question can you get leasing if you live out of state then the dealership that offers
I'm surprised more companies don't offer bike leases. Cars depreciate so fast that the bank has a poor asset at the end of the period. Bikes don't depreciate as fast. Often a bike in good shape is retail worth 75% of the original price even years later, because the new bikes in that class inflate their prices year to year so: An $8000 new bike in 2008. Same new bike in 2018 is $12,000 That 2008 bike looks just like the 2018 and sells for $6500 used
S Tho look at the mv agusta f3/4 series, especially the f3, the sold them for 11.975€ in the first year (2008 ish or so). Now find a F3 Wich is in good conditions but below 8k€ price range. Lowest prices are 6.500€ range.
Milan #31 economics of bikes is different in different nations. In some nations the bike is equal to the car in transportation. In some nations, like the US, a bike is a recreational hobby vehicle 85%-90% of the purchases. The economics change between those two realities. Many nations fit somewhere in between.
Yeah it's true that a lot of bike work weird in depreciation. On a bike usually the biggest depreciation hit comes immediately after it is bought new, depending on the bike you will lose 20-25% quickly, but then it will actually hold a pretty solid value for a while haha. And most bikes don't depreciate past a certain point if kept in good condition...here pretty much any good running bike is worth $2k-$2500 as long as it runs and is nice no matter how old...
You can get a lease on a bike under 400cc through Motolease, most other motorcycle lease companies stick with Harley only which means you'll need to go with a sportster or bigger to use them.
So i need some help i want to get the 2020 bmw s1000rr m but the payments will come out to around 550 a month but the sales guy said if i lease it for 3 years it will drop it to 350 a month. I want to keep the bike but cant afford the high payments. And at the end of the lease when i want to keep the bike will i be able to get rebates or discount and will i get hit with a high interest rate?
Hi Pablo! Your insurance will depend on a lot of factors, but for a younger person on an R6 it might be a little expensive. I would suggest trying to get added on to your parents insurance with the bike for a while as it should be a lot cheaper.
Why no one is talking about money ....what are the monthly payments, for example, HD softail 24mo lease how much downpayment they ask and what you have to pay every month because if lease is like $100 a month then there is no fucking point to get into a lease. With for example 1000 downpayment and 100 a month after 2 years you gonna give them $3200 just for renting a motorcycle, but if they don't ask for a downpayment and lease is like $25 a month then yes that make sense so how close am I with those numbers to the reality of leasing?
