For as awful as Touya has become, I can’t help but feel for him. He was basically robbed of a happy life just because his father was too blind and arrogant to actually consider what he needed. But also, something that’s worth noting is how quickly he picked up on the rest of the family being there. Despite everything, Touya is still in there. And honestly, that’s the saddest part of all of this. Still, it’s incredibly lucky for Touya that Shoto came when he did. Endeavor had already given up on Touya yet again, and I don’t think the rest of the family would’ve been able to cool him off in time. Only real question is, what comes after this? All that’s left is probably a hellish future, which I guess is fitting 😅
To be fair to Endeavor, once he started seeing how badly Touya kept showing up with more burn marks. He tried to tell him to stop using his quirk. He cared more for the well-being of his child, rather than his motive to surpass All Might in this instance.
@@Meldrick-jv7syexactly. Endeavor was really trying to protect his eldest son from killing himself. Just in the wrong way really. But touya took it as a huge insult. Imagine how that would feel your life’s purpose that you are fully dedicated to getting taken away by the same person who pushed you towards it in the first place.
@@Meldrick-jv7sy The problem is, even though both a doctor and his wife told him that he shouldn't keep playing eugenics to create a designer baby (specifically for how it would emotionally devastate Touya, in Rei's case), Endeavor ignored their advice, telling her that the "only way" to make Touya give up (as he stared at All Might on the TV screen-not a joke, it's literally what was happening), since they had "inherited his pigheaded stubbornness" (as he put it), is to create another kid that could be what he wanted. Yet, even though Enji himself refused to see past his own dream and his desire to accomplish it through his children, he thought that all he needed to do for Touya after he was replaced-who, even at the time, knew exactly what reason he and his siblings were conceived for-was tell him to "look beyond all this." That's why the chapter and episode was titled, "The *Wrong Way* to Put Out a Fire."
