I'm another fan of Jackie and Shadow. Been watching them for a couple years now. I saw this video pop up while I was watching the eagle cam and thought "OH! I wonder if that's Jackie or Shadow?!".

That is definitely Shadow (male bald eagle) snatching that trout to feed his newly hatched eaglets (Cookie and Simba) while Jackie (female bald eagle) was on the nest. Both eggs hatched on April 14 and 15, 2019 according to date on the video. Unfortunately, Cooked died on Memorial day weekend (hypothermia) 2019 and Simba survived. Simba fledged on July 23, 2019 and is likely doing well. Jackie and Shadow are big time eagle celebrities in Big Bear! Thanks for sharing your video this is awesome to see the skills of a bald eagle catching fish and generally rare to see.
These wonderful birds deserve their own YT channel. Their following is so impressive. I one day aspire to be as good of a fisherman as Jackie or Shadow!

The nest is currently empty, as the newest member of the BBL Bald Eagles fledged a few weeks ago and hasn’t been back to the nest in a couple of days, but the cam is still in operation, and sightings of Jackie, Shadow, and Spirit are being posted.
I just now saw a link to this video (almost 2 years later), and had to watch. That was FANTASTIC!!! When I saw where it was, I figured it had to be Jackie or Shadow. From some of the comments below, it was most likely Shadow.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity of seeing a bit more of the area - one can only catch a glimpse of the lake from the Bald Eagles nest cam! I do hope the development of a marina and housing can be stopped - it would be such a shame to spoil the natural beauty of the place, and not just on account of the eagles.

Wondering also if it was Shadow, although Jackie is a larger bald eagle. Shadow is a terrific hunter and always provides fish and small mammals for his chick, Spirit.

That is probably a parent eagle who has a nest on the Lake. I watch them in their nest on RUclips. The one baby that hatched this year has fledged and comes back for Mom or Dad to feed her. Beautiful birds!

If this was in 2019 it was probably Jackie. Shadow would have still had more brown head feathers then - he was younger and his head was not yet all white. Great video!

Jackie & Shadow are a breeding pair at Big Bear Lake. The year this was filmed their eaglet was Stormy - what a spoiled vocal baby. This year they raised Spirit. We love watching the live cam of their chicks each year.

This how I saw my first bald eagle out on the lake on a boat! there was a dead fish floating on top of the water the Eagle tried over and over he finally got it and left! I know people don't believe us when we tell them it happenedLOL too bad I didn't film it! just the other day I saw another bald eagle flying! ii was out on the back deck and saw a big bird and I saw that white face I couldn't believe it especially how far we are from the lake! but we do have a river up the road not far! they are so beautiful!

The Fishing Father Do you know the date it was filmed? People record nest cam vids, and I wanted to see if that trout came in that day - probably fed to the babies.
I think it's Jackie rather than Shadow. Not to dis Jackie but I think Shadow would have had the fish sooner :) He's does it more often and he brings her fish, not because she can't fish but, you know, if he does it faster why not just let him catch the fish and bring it to you, right? You go, Jackie!

I think it's Jackie rather than Shadow. Not to dis Jackie but I think Shadow would have had the fish sooner :) He's does it more often and he brings her fish, not because she can't fish but, you know, if he does it faster why not just let him catch the fish and bring it to you, right? You go, Jackie!

This is either Jackie or Shadow, you can see them on live cam at www.iws.org/livecams.html they have a baby in the nest at the moment. They had two but unfortunately one passed in May. How blessed you are to have witnessed this. Great video, mahalo!
