Listen, that story about losing money never holds water for 90% of people. They buy a watch and wear it, whole life. I am a collector of sort, but I have never sold a single watch! I research, I find what I would like, I try it, and if all is fine, that watch is mine, new, fresh, and it will never leave me. Only reason I would not buy a Panerai from retail, if, ofc cheaper price, and that is all.
Nice watches. I 100% agree about buying on the secondary market. I've purchased several watches on the secondary market at huge savings over retail, and they are in excellent condition.
You’re 100% correct on not paying retail on Panerai. There’s been too much controversy surrounding the brand, that it wouldn’t make any sense. I’d love to hear WatchKelly’s perspective since she worked for them for awhile. Although, for that Luna Rossa edition, I’d think of paying retail for that beauty.
Panerai has brought much controversy upon itself. So, it would be hard to justify purchasing any of their products. No matter what the discount. If they can repair their reputation, then maybe.
I bought a Pam282 and a Pam74 which are both 40mm, titanium Luminors. The 282 is from 2007 and the 74 from 2000. I will never understand why people wait in line to pay retail or over. If I can’t get a discount, I will wait until someone who paid retail gets tired of his watch and then I will consider it. You have to make yourself understand that you don’t have to be the first to have everything. If you truly love a watch, you can be disciplined enough to wait. I try to use this discipline for everything but it doesn’t always work. 😂 Rolex and some others are a different story for sure. I’ve been chasing down watches that I absolutely loved throughout my life and it’s more fulfilling for me to find these than to pay retail for something new. You can buy some incredible watches that used to be unbelievably expensive for a fraction of their original retail price.
Panerai pieces are equipped with a very basic movement, have a ridiculous water resistance and have an outrageous high price. They have lost 2 positions in the world’s market share. Therefore, their current price policy is giving good results. So, I don’t understand why they are doing that. In the past, an entry level Panerai had a beautiful sapphire case back with a decorated movement and you would pay 4.8 K in a boutique. Right now, if you want something like that, you are gonna spend at least 11 K dollars. I understand that the CEO of Panerai wants to compete with the CEO of IWC to become the next President of the Richemont Group. But, he has been humiliated so far as IWC is doing so much better.
Perhaps wanting to purchase a watch new, and keep it, is NOT a "problem," as you put it. Maybe, just maybe, the buying and selling of USED watches is the "problem". Just a thought. I have observed that as much more of a "problem" than people who simply buy their watches new and then cherish and enjoy them. Thanks for the video's! You do a nice job.
Obscenely overpriced...I spent months trying to justify buying a PAM914 then I suddenly realised...I am not an idiot...made that decision a darn sight easier 😂 Panerai are taking their customers for a ride ...you pay more you get less...so its back to waiting for my perfect Omega which will probably be my exit watch.....probably....
No such thing as an exit watch 😂 I think I have 5 or 6 exit watches at this point. I love telling my wife that this is the last one I’ll ever buy. I am now content and complete.
I personally love my Quaranta. Wears really well, pairs great with straps, looks great!

These are beautiful and they are a more reasonable size.

Panerai watches look beautiful in detail

Saving money = Ability to buy more watches. Always follow the deals. 😁
I do hope Panerai makes more watches in the 40mm case. Looks great.
I learned from you about buying on the secondary market. I saved a boat load on my Pam 459.
Hope they will continue to make 40mm models. My 7inch wrist appreciates.
Bought a Pam 00512 on the secondary. Great fit and finish. As well as a great discount!
I just bought an Omega Planet Ocean orange bezel, white dial for under retail including tax at my local jeweler.
I bought my two PAMs used and saved a bundle. Good advice Chris!
R U sure not fake ???

Exactly. From the downgrading of their movements to the replicas shared by official accounts

Yep I bought one for my uncle and the prices are freaken jacked!

Really wanted a Luminor until I found out it didn't hack. For that price I'll pass!!!
Lots of luminors hack depends on the movement
@koolpep I wanted the 1312. It used to have hacking function but now it doesn't. For 8800 I think I'd always be bothered by that.
Just wait till you realise most Pateks don’t hack either.
@@atthelord Indeed - I have the VC Overseas and yeah - it doesn't hack.
But i just brougt a Panerai??!
Nice watches, but real Panearais are the hand wound ones, as well as real BMW motorbikes are the ones with the boxer engine..
You could substitute almost ANY other watch brand for Panerai and the grey vs AD price difference would be just as dramatic
He said as much in the video.
👍👍👍 Nice Watch 👍👍👍
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for using the term “secondary market” rather than conflating it with “gray market” like so many others.
Thank you for watching!

No point buying gen pammies
Losing a couple thousand dollars but buying a whole lot of peace of mind w/ the manufacturer’s warranty.
The warranty is bound to the watch, not the wearer. So you can buy a used PAM and still have years of warranty.
They look so ordinary and bland with so cheap looking dial and hands.
