You'll have a blast going through her discography if you enjoyed this track. She's signed with Universal Records as well and has done massive collaborations with big names such as One Piece, Metal Gear and just recently announced as the singer for the ending theme song for the upcoming DC Anime Isekai Suicide Squad. A couple of my favorites from her are "End of a Life" (very personal and melancholic song) and "The Grim Reaper is a Live-Streamer." "What's Hololive?" Welcome to the rabbit hole.
Hololive is one of the foremost agencies for vtubers, with over fifty talents signed. Compared to other agencies, Hololive has a bit more of a music focus. All of the talents do music to some extent and the company puts on live shows using mocap and AR technology (they had their biggest yearly show, Holo Fes, featuring all the active talents, this past weekend). The company has three branches, JP, EN and ID, focused on Japan, English speaking territories and Indonesia respectively. Calli was the first talent to debut with the English branch. She is American, but has lived in Japan for years now and has picked up the language. She moved to Japan out of interest in the underground rap scene there and performed under a different stage name as an independent artist for a while before joining Hololive and becoming Calli. As the song might have suggested, her theme as a vtuber is that she is a grim reaper (or shinigami). As an artist, she is one of the most prolific in Hololive, with a very deep and varied catalog. She's been active as Calli for less than four years, but has two full length albums and I think like four EPs already in addition to a bunch of singles and covers. This was her debut song. For contrast with this one I recommend her song End of a Life. It's hard to go to wrong with her though.
Came to the comments to make a similar post, but you did an awesome job! The only thing I can really think of to add is that Calli started out being completely focused on rap and hip hop, but has been expanding her reach to other types of music as well as singing, all of which has been pretty impressive! She's even gotten song deals with major brands for promotional usage, including Metal Gear, One Piece, and most recently, the new Suicide Squad Isekai Anime!
Its always funny to see the suprise at the opening. This song is great and has that sho value. Her best song, IMO, the one that has real feelings behind it, is End of a life. Its another great reacrion song because you get to see people dive into the lyrics in that one.
Everyone has that look of surprise when Callie suddenly curses and starts rapping. A most common misconception of her model is that would be singing a pop cutesy song until she starts singing.
Would love to see him react to her newest song Overkill to compare and contrast what she's doing now compared to this first song, she's come a long way to get to where she is now.
About your initial reaction about being Japanese... you might appreciate how this song debuted. The Japanese vtuber agency Hololive was having some success in the West, so they were opening an English branch -- and Calliope Mori's debut stream was the very first stream from the generation. People didn't know what to expect, and she was sort of playing the part of what you might expect from a Japanese idol, but in English. After a while in, she makes some comments about being yourself versus being what people expect of you... and then mentions something like "Oh, I've written a song for you guys...."
Calli's bilingual. idk where you got the idea of her using a translator. She's at least moderately fluent, but of all the Japanese speaking english members, she's more identifiably "American" sounding. She was living in Japan BEFORE she became a vtuber, rapping at Japanese bars.

If you liked this song, her entire "Sinderella" album is right up your alley. I would start with "Dance Past Midnight" or "Taste of Death"
Probably my favorite album of hers
Calliope was actually born and raised in Texas iirc, but she moved to Japan and currently lives there.
