    We had pressure boosters that used much the same operations. Much larger air cylinder piston driving a small hydraulic piston with the same stroke length. 100 psi air could easily generate 2000 psi hydraulic pressure.

    When I made this motor I simply had 2 metal flat bar plates stuck on the shafts sticking out at each end of the piston. There was a 6cm gap between these plates and the ends of the valve rod. The way it worked was that at the end of the stroke the momentum of the piston would push the valve over with this plate and the piston would reverse direction. Basically it was a full linear motor in operation. It was much simpler and did not need a yoke or crank or any other stuff. The only crank needed was to turn the linear motion into rotary motion if rotary motion was what was needed. Btw making a smaller version out of steel using a lathe and some fancy tools and with a powerful compressor got me an rpm of 6400 before the piston smacked the one end off the cylinder and popped out of the end at high speed :). I guess I did not make it strong enough. A simple one using my idea for the valves and without the rotary valve bit could be printed with a 3D printer as long as the cylinder was made using a smooth plexiglass tube.

    Could be faster to compress air to tanks for a car than to recharge batteries lol, is the energy potential relatable? Not that super-caps or en-route scraping chargers, like trains have, aren't likely better options to solve that, but I love exploring possibilities! Sorry to change the comment number away from 42.

      Of course, but you have to carry pressurized air with you to push something like a truck. It's been tried, but low range and danger of explosion in an accident

    • @dantronics1682
      @dantronics1682 6 месяцев назад

      @@kingofnothing2260 why would there be danger of explosion? trucks already use compress air for its airbrakes and starting and there are trucks and cars that have propane tanks fitted for running on lpg and cng

    • @Warp9pnt9
      @Warp9pnt9 6 месяцев назад

      @@dantronics1682 a large number of compressed air tanks would be needed to drive even a few miles, no payload, just a lot of potential energy stored in pressurized tanks. In an accident, if some vales pop off tanks, or there's punctures, the tanks go off like rockets. If punctured in the middle, they may explode. Chain reaction, all these tanks letting loose will damage more tanks. Limited range because tanks don't fill themselves. You'd need an electric or petrol powered air compressor. Brakes/horn use a relatively small amount of air, and the compressor is powered by tge diesel engine.

    • @kingofnothing2260
      @kingofnothing2260 6 месяцев назад

      @@dantronics1682 a huge reservoir of thousands of psi air would be needed for any real range. Same reason hydrogen cars aren't used. Carbon fiber containment is best under testing as it will split in an accident rather than crumple, but still
