    Yea Aaliyah never wanted folks to focus on her age in the early days. She was very mature for her age. She was also known as "street but sweet." Shout out to the Isley Bros for the orig song. This version was for a popular Chicago "stepping" dance. But yes, her orig version showcased her angelic voice.

      @matthewharjo7512 4 года назад +4

      He tainted her early work??? “Age ain’t nothing but a number” is a classic album. Because of R.Kelly. His production, having her sing soft over hip-hop beats, no one sang like that until Aaliyah. I grew up in the 90’s, Living R.Kelly. It’s about separating the person from the art. His music is some of the greatest music ever made. The personal is fucked up yes. Do I agree with his actions, hell no! But can I still bump and love his music, you bet. If we cancel him and write off his entire musical legacy, then we need to do the same for everyone else who slept with young girls, the DL men in hip hop who slept with young boys. The DL men in music who have sexually assisted trans women. Who have killed people, etc.
      And Jamedra. She was not manipulated. Aaliyah was a very smart girl. She knew exactly what she was doing..... if she did do that. Because her family n close friends have denied it. That marriage license could’ve been forged by a media source. Aaliyah has always said she was never married. And Robert has said he will not talk about her, because she is not here to tell her side.

    • @jamedraa8472
      @jamedraa8472 4 года назад +5

      @@matthewharjo7512 she said he tainted his early work "for her". Plenty of 15 year olds are "smart", that doesn't mean they are prepared for a relationship with a grown man. The media had no reason to forge a marriage license. Her family just wanted to protect her. Ever heard of a "Non Disclosure Agreement". He didn't call himself the "pied piper" just because it sounded good. You are free to believe what you like, as am I.

    Actually, this is a cover of an Isley Brothers song, and like many mentioned this version with the video is a remix to her album version, her album version is a direct copy of the Isley brothers original that many (like myself) prefer to the original. Ok so check it out, this version is great, and you mentioned that you're liking her older stuff & wanting more of this time period, I got you with these recommendations.
    1. At Your Best (album version)
    2. Back & Forth (her 1st single, and it's what really blew her up overnight, it's actually a classic story of the song took off faster than her team was ready for)
    3. Young Nation (no video) - this is an album track, and I'm gonna predict this might end up being your favorite song of hers or at least of this era
    4. Street Thang - This is definitely in her top best vocal performances.
    5. I Need You Tonight (Junior Mafia Ft. Aaliyah) - It can be the original which has a video, or the So So Def Remix, both are fire, the remix is better but the video is great too, you got Lil Kim & Aaliyah on the same track sounding great in 1995!

    Musically Speaking, R Kelly is one of the Greatest Singers/Songwriters of all time. I consider him in the GOAT conversation or Top Five of all time. He produced his own songs and produced so many artists that had hits. Aliyah, Toni Braxton, Maxwell, Celine Dion, Maxwell etc. R Kelly produced the entire Age Ain't Nothing but a Number and it's arguably her greatest album. Timbaland and Missy are great but R Kelly bought a different sound and mood. It's hard to choose which album is best tbh.

    My favorite Aaliyah song. Growing up in the 90’s, the trinity was Brandy, Monica, and Aaliyah. Just like Whitney, Mariah, and Toni Braxton. And Britney, Christina Aguilera, and Pink after them. Brandy was like the Britney. She was the most successful, her image was wholesome. The good girl. And then Monica, the vocalist. The rebel. And then Aaliyah, who was the edgy girl, the one who sang over hard beats, who hung with the fellas. Who had a more grown street image and following. It’s because of that style, the image and the following that we crowned her “The Princess of Hip-Hop and R&B.”

    This song was an original written and performed by The Isley Brothers. Aaliyah and R. Kelly did it justice. 💯✔

    The song is a cover of The Isley Brothers "At Your Best" in which she got the blessing from Ron Isley to record. R Kelly is a very troubled area when come to Aaliyah fans.
    R Kelly was in his late 20s around 27 when allegedly illegally married Aaliyah at 15, which was quickly annulled by her parents. R Kelly had a pattern of dating girls much younger than him. She was black balled in the industry after the scandal broke the public treated her like a lolita instead of the victim of a sex crime, even booing her at an awards show (Soul Train or Source Awards). She was only 15 going 16 going through this in the public eye , she was able break from her past and start a new she cut ties with R Kelly, and start working with Missy Elliot and Timbaland. She always spoke about trying leave that period in her life behind her. It's sad that the 15 year old in the situation was blamed more than the the 27 year old who knew better to than to have a relationship with a underage girl. But this isn't the first time this has happened in the industry Elvis Presley was in his mid to late 20s when married Priscilla Presley who was around 15 or 16.

      Age Ain't Nothing But Number era is believed to one of the many things that hinder the creation of a official Aaliyah biographical film. Figuring out how such topic would be handled in the film would be challenging to her family, but recently heard they were possibly ready move forward with some sort of film, but info on the production is very limited to the public. The movie was originally planned with Canadian R&B singer and Actress Keshia Chante the former friend and girlfriend of Drake. But she had falling out with Aaliyah's brother Rashad on Twitter in the early 2010s. So I doubt they would be making a movie with her when production moves forward. I personally think they should use a singer named Ayanis to portray Aaliyah in a biopic, she has a bit of a resemblance to Aaliyah, has a similar swag, and is a huge Aaliyah fan, she even recently had a music video that payed homage to "We Need A Resolution"

    I'm so glad you did the remix, her voice is incredible I prefer it over the original and that one is good as well. This one just have a low-key approach that you would play when you with someone and you are feeling them. 😉 Musically, this was a great collaboration between her and R Kelly, they were able to remake the song and make it popular in a new genre of music.

    this song is a remake of an Isley brothers song, but also this version is a remix of another version that she did (which i personally prefer). This was off her first album which is the only album she did that R. Kelly was involved in, she went on to work with Missy and Timbaland on her later albums
