The comment that Paige made about her own parents not displaying their icons etc is what my home was like. The statue of Mary was on my Mum's dressing table and there was no cross or anything else in the other spaces of our home. Yet, our Catholic faith was important but in only happened at school or church. It has taken me years to feel comfortable in having displays of ny faith in my home. Partly that is because my husband is an atheist but we do make our faith bland when we don't live our faith in our homes.
Thank you for sharing Catherine. Another angle on this we can often miss is how much the displays in our home express to our visitors. It makes me think of how much I notice what is displayed in other people's homes. We often don't realize how much people notice when they come into our homes. This is a way that we can often them something beautiful and at the same time share with them who we are.
@@LifeCraftVideos that is also a pertinent point and one for me to add to my thoughts around this whole topic. The one thing that I have also been thinking about since I watched it was how I do remember the art, what little there was, that was on the walls of my childhood home. So, starting next week, Geoff and I will be putting more paintings etc up on the walls as Iris and those who come to our home clearly do absorb that. I mention Iris specifically as Paige was talking about children and the scientific studies. However, we can make a positive impact upon adults as well by exposing them to beauty in art. 'Offering them something beautiful' - what a lovely way to phrase it. Thanks again, Cate.
