If you wanted to add a lining to the tiers, do you have any recommendations? or any tutorials you might have for adding a "slip lining' or something - I might risk it and just wear a slip if I need to, but I am curious if you have any thoughts!
I found this to be incredibly difficult! Especially connecting the band to the first tier...I've made several tiered dresses and have never had such a hard time.
I found this cotton at the thrift store, it's cotton! I used around 2.5 - 3 yards of fabric for my dress :) The band part looks intimidating, but is actually fairly easy to make! A thicker band seems to be a bit easier to make as well, so keep that in mind! Maybe like a 3-4" band.
quick question-I’m following along and at the “pinning the straps on” part-well when I slipped my bodice piece on it was not snug on me but really loose around- (yours looks like it fits perfect ) I know we added 2 inches of ease-do u think I should take it in now or will I need that ease when it all comes together? Hope that made sense -
You can take it in by an inch (1/2” on each side) if you think it’ll fit better! Even 2” if it’s suuuuper loose. The 2” of ease made it a little loose on me too, so it had a drapey look in the back. But not necessary! Make the bodice fit you if you prefer, then just measure your finished bodice width to figure out how wide to make the skirt ♥️
Excited to try this! I want to attempt to make a tiered dress for my daughter for Thanksgiving and matching outfit for another❤️
Aw yay! You'll LOVE it!
