I love Goldfrapp and have done for many years ever since I first heard Strict Machine, I guess that must be about 20ish years ago (I just Googled it and it came out in 2003, so I wasn't far off). I've met Alison and Will a few times (and I might add that she (Alison, sorry Will) is a beautiful in real life as she appears on screen but sadly, I would not be her cup of tea!) Anyway, the point of this comment was meant to be that occasionally I am asked to teach the odd person how to play a bit of bass. I'm not a teacher by a long way but one of the things I always suggest, is to find a song you like that is very simple to play and one that you can play along with it without needing to know very much (a genius and original method I know ;-)...). I say this as I find it gives you a bit of confidence if you can play a whole song and is less boring than learning scales etc (you still need to learn those btw!) I was teaching one of my daughter's friends (she was around nine or ten at the time) when we had her and her parents over for dinner one evening, and (egged on and accompanied by my daughter) she played along to a Gorillaz (I think) song in full. The look of absolute pride on her face was brilliant (almost as proud as her parents looked!) No mean feat for two very small girls, each playing one of my Rickenbacker 4003's (they looked both adorable and dwarfed in equal measure!) It doesn't matter if it's very easy or a super complicated Geddy Lee/Les Claypool/Stanley Clarke type thing (though to be honest, if you're a beginner and can do that, you need a much, much, much better teacher than me!), it's just fun to be able to do the whole thing and even a one one bassline, will teach you a bit about timing. Getting to the point, this is one of the songs I recommend as the bassline is simply (more or less, and don't worry about any pedals etc); A| -0-0-0-0-3-5-3-0-0-0-0, repeated. I think the original might have been played on a keyboard bass or similar but I am not sure.

Famiele / Freunde / Lebensfreude
Das ist was zählt.
Versteht Ihr das denn immer noch nicht?
I can only say again and again ... HAMMER SONG AND HAMMER VIDEO TO IT. Hits me every time again in the soul. Thank you that there are artists like you who make it possible to produce such songs and make cool videos that also go under the skin. THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH. From a fan who understands understands and feels your music. This gives me courage to live again. Is such a cool attitude to life. With such songs you can change the world. But there are far too many capitalists who ruin everything. Live your life because you only have this one. Listen to this music Then you should understand that money is not everything in life. Famiele / friends / joy of life That is what counts. Do you still not understand that?
