    I am 57. I rolled into costco gas, rolling in on my 10yr old BMW 740li, blazing this track. A fellow in his late 20s working there, leans into my window and says “who is this? It’s a great rip!”
    Classic

      I remember being around bikers... This sh always made me think of them. I have fond memories of them. I don't really. But kind of... If me at my worst was me at my worst, listen, I've seen worse 🙄... & I apologize to anyone & to myself for being entirely cringy. In my defense, what's a girl to do when it's reality at a bill but in a fog & u have no real direction bc hardly anyone took u there anyways & ure just kinda alone... And even tho I spent such a good fraction of my life there, I'd like to forget it ever happened. That was white ppl culture anyways, lol. I think they owned some very few urban places. Idk. Few I've worked at & I think only 1 tolerated me a little more. The most recent 1 had me dancing to Miley Cyrus. Not literally Miley Cyrus. It was a song about Miley Cyrus... Yeah. I was like 🥴 oh ok I c..

    I love Goldfrapp and have done for many years ever since I first heard Strict Machine, I guess that must be about 20ish years ago (I just Googled it and it came out in 2003, so I wasn't far off). I've met Alison and Will a few times (and I might add that she (Alison, sorry Will) is a beautiful in real life as she appears on screen but sadly, I would not be her cup of tea!) Anyway, the point of this comment was meant to be that occasionally I am asked to teach the odd person how to play a bit of bass. I'm not a teacher by a long way but one of the things I always suggest, is to find a song you like that is very simple to play and one that you can play along with it without needing to know very much (a genius and original method I know ;-)...).
    I say this as I find it gives you a bit of confidence if you can play a whole song and is less boring than learning scales etc (you still need to learn those btw!) I was teaching one of my daughter's friends (she was around nine or ten at the time) when we had her and her parents over for dinner one evening, and (egged on and accompanied by my daughter) she played along to a Gorillaz (I think) song in full. The look of absolute pride on her face was brilliant (almost as proud as her parents looked!) No mean feat for two very small girls, each playing one of my Rickenbacker 4003's (they looked both adorable and dwarfed in equal measure!)
    It doesn't matter if it's very easy or a super complicated Geddy Lee/Les Claypool/Stanley Clarke type thing (though to be honest, if you're a beginner and can do that, you need a much, much, much better teacher than me!), it's just fun to be able to do the whole thing and even a one one bassline, will teach you a bit about timing. Getting to the point, this is one of the songs I recommend as the bassline is simply (more or less, and don't worry about any pedals etc);
    A| -0-0-0-0-3-5-3-0-0-0-0, repeated.
    I think the original might have been played on a keyboard bass or similar but I am not sure.

      This isn't a version, it's an original song by Goldfrapp (Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory) written as a tribute to Marc Bolan. The band seen in this video with Alison are not their regular musicians.

      @@rufusdashiell2706 Thank you, u r right. I was incorrect to use that term. Not version-y...Tribute. Respect. Love. I never meant to imply like copying, or such like. As artists we need to engage influence and evolve the art ongoing...and this band is awesome in every respect. Happy New Year to 'all the young dudes' ! 😊

    • @midobecker1
      @midobecker1 9 лет назад +5

      ***** Really? This is a rip off version of Norman Greenbaum - Spirit in the Sky. The only one you didn't mention as influence?!?! Canned Heat was the first one to play it as a blues song that was improve by Norman 2 years later. The others just copy the tempo and played them with different instrument and a different speed. Yet, it is undeniable the complete similarity of her song with Norman's Spirit of the Sky.
      You know she is paying royalty to whoever has the copyright ownership from Spirit of the Sky.

    Ich kann immer wieder nur sagen ...
    HAMMER SONG UND HAMMER VIDEO DAZU.
    Trifft mich jedesmal wieder in der Seele.
    Danke, dass es solche Künstler wie Euch gibt die es möglich machen solche Lieder zu produzieren und noch Coole Videos zu machen die zusätzlich unter die Haut gehen.
    VIELEN VIELEN DANK.
    Von einem Fan der Eure Musik
    Versteht und auch fühlt.
    Das gibt mir wieder lebensmut.
    Ist so ein geiles Lebensgefühl.
    Mit solchen Liedern kann man die Welt verändern.
    Aber es gibt viel zu viele Kapitalisten die alles kaputt machen.
    Lebt Euer Leben denn Ihr habt nur dieses eine.
    Hört euch mal diese Musik an
    Dann müsstet ihr verstehen das Geld nicht alles ist im leben.
    Famiele / Freunde / Lebensfreude
    Das ist was zählt.
    Versteht Ihr das denn immer noch nicht?
    I can only say again and again ... HAMMER SONG AND HAMMER VIDEO TO IT. Hits me every time again in the soul. Thank you that there are artists like you who make it possible to produce such songs and make cool videos that also go under the skin. THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH. From a fan who understands understands and feels your music. This gives me courage to live again. Is such a cool attitude to life. With such songs you can change the world. But there are far too many capitalists who ruin everything. Live your life because you only have this one. Listen to this music Then you should understand that money is not everything in life. Famiele / friends / joy of life That is what counts. Do you still not understand that?
