True indeed, however I'm noticing that people are using it to stay off the radar but have obtained other hustles. Which the government as well as other agencies are conducting investigations.
Bc we don't pay teachers enough so we get schoolhouses filled with adults with other agendas. Then we expect them to babysit our children as well. All while they make very little.
Absolute truth, I've been in both positions. So glad I made my own way. Welfare is a psychological prison and what you give up to receive it is your mind.
It’s not hard to figure out or understand. When someone or some thing wants to control you, they give you a little bit of what you need to keep you hooked.
Absolutely... And "if" you get a penny over that... benefits drop off quickly. There is no halfway house when your getting benefits. Things can depend on how old and sick you are. There is only one thing keeping the U.S. from looking like every other third world country and that's foodstamps. Take away foodstamps and things would get ugly fast.
The idea is to incentivise people to get jobs. Just because you can get something for free doesn't mean you should. Why should you earn money from a job AND collect government (aka taxpayer funded) benefits?

There are more white people living on welfare than black people. I used to work maintenance at a section 8 complex and the white people were the absolute nastiest tenants. Imagine a house littered with clutter, floors covered in dog feces and urine, a closet filled with used baby diapers, walls and ceiling stained with tobacco smoke, and mattresses crawling with so many bedbugs that it looked like someone kicked in an ant hill.
You are the majority of blacks. It has nothing to do with color. I'm white and had to use it for a minute. But I didn't expect them to give me a house on it. Ugh this mindset is frustrating.

Key word is "Giving" -- they offer help (even if it's just enough to keep a family from living on the street). People don't have to take the help if it's not to their satisfaction. Nobody is forcing them to be on Welfare. The solution is to just get a job 😮
My mom realized this and took advantage of programs that would elevate her so she could get herself independent and liberated. It took her six years but she did it. At the end of the day, she was able to buy her a house and car without any subsidies from the government. I love her so much. Taught us the importance of working hard and how to be self sufficient. All of us are thriving because we witnessed her struggle and determination. We did not want to go down that road that she had to travel and she didn’t want that for us. Focused on God, our careers, then marriage, then kids in that order.
Not really because the more you make the less they help by far. If you start making an extra 50 dollars for the month they decrease what they give you by 150 and instead of you paying 30 percent off your earnings now you gotta pay 70 percent so now you got more bills than income. The thing is some people know how to play the system to get up and some people scared to lie so they are stuck because they don’t make enough to save up to get away and then there’s others who are comfortable
No. LBJ gave welfare to Black Americans for a reason and it wasn't to "help them get by". They were statistically performing better than their white counterparts in terms of family unity and economic growth, and him and his racist friends hated that.
That is true! My friend took care of her 3 grandchildren and received welfare & section 8, while working a few shifts weekly for McDonald's. She called me one day to borrow money for Groceries...she told me the government CUT HER food stamps OFF FOR A YEAR...Because she earned mf 1 PENNY TOO MUCH. 🤯
Believing it’s intended to be a “fix” is an error. Unless by fix you mean like an addiction.. capitalism is setup to keep us slaves and paying the people who enslave us. Children born under welfare are at high risk of slavery to the system, exactly what they want. Especially from people of color.

Welfare is not designed to be a paycheck. Welfare is using other peoples money. It is designed to give you just enough to survive. And if you want more, you deserve to go out and earn it.
The government should not allow minimum wage business to operate. U work all week not having enough to survive. Government systems have agencies to assist so they can have people to work for these businesses that they give tax breaks to. Rich say rich. The Government needs the working class

Meanwhile, here in NY, as per Mayor Adams, taxpayers are funding illegals at a cost of $65 thousand per illegal. They get free housing, food, clothing, medical, dental, education, LAUNDRY SERVICE, IPHONE, and transportation. Our own NY welfare recipients don't get that much.

The Truth. Brought my first house last year. Decided to break the cycle. Family couldnt enourage because thats all they knew. I have always wanted more and now I am part of the few in my extended family that has their own.
It's not just black people and it's not just people on welfare. Social Security allows retirees to continue to work but will deduct money from their monthly check if they earn over $22k per year. This makes no sense!
Yup! I did this with Section 8. I got tired of the game. So, I went into the office and told them, very politely, that although this program was very helpful to me when I needed it. It was a hinder as I was progressing. It was like having a cast on a limb for too long. At first it can be helpful for a short amount of time. But if you leave it on for months instead of weeks. It will weaken the limb. They begged me to stay on it. Telling me I was overreacting, that I should think this through. I asked them. Isn’t this program temporary assistance? They agreed, yes. Then why are people on this for years? Including passing this down to their children. What if the government stopped funding the program? Where would that leave me?…, No answer! I told them to give it to another that needed help. As I no longer needed it. I don’t knock folks for being on nor staying on any of these types of programs. There are many different reasons for why someone is seeking help. I just know that this was not for me and my children for the long term.
Really? Section 8 was hindering you? Lol I call bullshit! If you get a job where you can afford to pay rent without Section 8, then they stop funding you. Simple as that. The waiting list to get on Section 8 in San Diego, CA is YEARS! Last I heard, 7 years before your name gets pulled. Who only needs Section 8 for a few weeks or months? I find it hard to believe you were ever on Section 8 bcuz if you were, you would be able to recognize when someone hasn't got the first clue about how Section 8 works.
I don't logically understand why anyone working in the aid office or the section 8 office or whatever is called, would "beg" you to stay on it..... what difference does it make to that person? Why would they BEG you??
@@ebonyeverything2751 I really don’t know. But, they REALLY DID plead with me for quite a while to rethink my decision on giving it up. I still don’t really absolutely know why. I remember trying to get off of govt assistance. I was young with a child when I got on it. I accepted services for 18months. Hated it. She is so right. I came up with a plan and got myself off of their system. They made it very hard to get off. I asked to not receive anymore checks and my worker wouldn't stop them. They kept sending me checks every month, even though I no longer wanted it. I needed it still, but was trying to learn to live on my own merits. I never lived solely on their assistance. I worked the amt of hours allowed while in college. Just before finishing my first degree, I wrote a letter begging to be off. And the checks stopped. I didn't know then, that I needed to start a paper trail for them to respect my wishes. Any time it got hard, I remembered my trauma and found other resources and alternatives. Doing very well for my family and I now. But she is so right. If a person can't pull themselves out and away from govt support, they will stay on. It's absolutely correct. When my mother was alive. I tried to give her $500, and she was afraid to accept it because she feared the government would find out and stop her monthly checks.
I have lupus. I'm on disability and this caught the breath in my chest bc I understand that fear. I go through it every month, wondering if they've just shut it off for whatever arbitrary reason. For some reason, I'd get all my mail from SS, except for that shut off letter. That never shows up, I just have to figure it out. I'm so sorry that you had to endure that as her child, you wanted to help her. Fear can do some really bad things to humans, even if it's not a real fear. But that 500 was a legitimate fear, bc they'd leave her with 100 to get through the month. 940 a month, it's a hard life and people always have this idea that we all get iphones and new cars and 1000k in food stamps. That's not reality. I go without food a lot but recently it has gotten seriously painful and I had to be hospitalized. It's hard and I just wish people would be less judgemental and help the others. 😢

The fact that ppl think she's saying stay on welfare tells me the school system is failing us too😂😂😂
True indeed, however I'm noticing that people are using it to stay off the radar but have obtained other hustles. Which the government as well as other agencies are conducting investigations.
Bc we don't pay teachers enough so we get schoolhouses filled with adults with other agendas. Then we expect them to babysit our children as well. All while they make very little.
👏👏
The educational system failed us first... that's why there's a failure to comprehend.

Girl, YOU SPOKE IT and EXPLAINED IT! Thank you! Community, get it together. Knowledge is power!😊❤🙏🏾

And the lazy more lazy
If rich people gave poor people 20k in their bank accounts, they'd blow it all on pointless things and then be poor again. Poor is a mindset. You need to be conscientious and intelligent to be wealthy.
Bad decisions keep people poor, but I understand that it can be difficult to rise out of poverty and very rarely does anyone make it easy.
How does welfare keep the rich, rich? Please explain yourself.

Not just black Americans - its ALL OF US who depend on the system - for ANYTHING

I'm black, never been on welfare, worked for over 40 years, have my own house and never relied on the government.
You are the majority of blacks. It has nothing to do with color. I'm white and had to use it for a minute. But I didn't expect them to give me a house on it. Ugh this mindset is frustrating.
Your story isn't uncommon. The system just likes to villanize us. The image spread to the world is that we are useless freeloaders. They forget to say, oh yeah, they did give us 530 years of free labor. Nobody 🖤🤎 honestly should ever have to work a day of their life if they don't wish to do so.
The fact that this is a comment is what we’re talking about 🤷🏾
I did for a short period of time..I went to a trade school and used what resources they had to better my situation.. this was back in the 90s when they had resources.. now they don't help you get off.. when I did get a good job and got off, they sent me a bill for 1500 dols saying they over paid me.. they wanted it then and there, they would not let me make small payments, they told me 500 a month or they would attach my wages.. my mother helped me with rent for 3 months so I could get them out of my life for good!! My mom realized this and took advantage of programs that would elevate her so she could get herself independent and liberated. It took her six years but she did it. At the end of the day, she was able to buy her a house and car without any subsidies from the government. I love her so much. Taught us the importance of working hard and how to be self sufficient. Welfare is not a come up. It's to help you get by till you can do it yourself

Believing it’s intended to be a “fix” is an error. Unless by fix you mean like an addiction.. capitalism is setup to keep us slaves and paying the people who enslave us. Children born under welfare are at high risk of slavery to the system, exactly what they want. Especially from people of color.
