Thank you so much for sharing this amazing story of you're relationship with Takaya. I am a huge lover of the canine species and this story adds to my feeling that canines give so much and understand our feelings so well but ask almost nothing in return. Such a sad end end for an obviously lonely boy. The hunter clearly knows not what he has done. Takaya's howling also resonated with me very deeply.
May your god go with him,you and your lovely family.

I live north of Victoria and followed Takayas story with great interest. His death at the hands of a hunter was so hard to take. What a joyous thing for you to have spent time with him. I have used this icon of a Vancouver Island Sea Wolf for a number of years because I think these wolves are a special gift to this island and they need to be protected.

Heartbreaking…that Takaya persevered for 8 years alone…only to be gunned down after being forcibly removed from his island.
    Om mani padme hum, Takaya.

They could have put him on that island in bc that was over populated with fallow deer instead of having a government funded cull idiots shameful failure again. Never going to learn. RIP Takaya may you haunt the hunter that shot you in his nightmares for the rest of his life. 🐺

shame that people want to attach their human emotions to a wild animal. An island with a rock over looking the sunrise, no other predators to compete with and an abundant source of food. This wolf mustve been living it good. in a perfect world he wouldve grown old and watched the sunrise one last time but instead he went out like a warrior. Against another predator.

Big brave 'hunter' killing a defenceless animal. Perhaps it makes up for his lack of manhood.
