We can talk all we want about trying to reach this kind of person but frankly I don't know how compromise works with somebody who says something like that. I don't know how much "reaching them" will accomplish. It really feels at that point more like all the "rational" arguments they have set up for their beliefs all just exist to shield that terrifying core from being detected by the light of day, y'know? I just don't know what to do with people like this. Even if we want to reach them it feels like an impossible fucking task.

It’s not for no reason. He had a family member attacked by a black person, and witnessed communities around him decline after taking in more people of color. That attack, and that decline are bad things, traumatic even. He has the right to be upset. Only problem is that he’s responding by demonizing black people rather than the systems that hurt them.
He is a victim. He's been deliberately targeted by bad faith demagogues and their online hate campaigns to see his fellow man not as an ally against a greater oppressive system holding them both down but as the true oppressor who is blaming him for being white. Southern Rap God: M A C H 3
Don't remind me of that surprise debate i still have ptsd holy shit.
You can’t debate someone who just says “that’s not true” to every fact that you can google
It reminds me of the debate with Destiny and Lauren Southern where Destiny showed her statistics that directly contradicted her claims about migrant crime. Her response was, "Well, you know, a lot of these crimes are covered up."
Don't go to a lot of red states, this seems to be the hivemind. They all have a number of excuses as to why truth/stats are false, and why an article they read by a mommy blogger anti vaxxer is clearly the "truth".
I dont know what to do because thats my family
They say facts over feelings but they say that’s not true when the fact hurts their feelings
@@arielperez3613 I don't think these people even remotely care about or even consider facts to be an important thing in life.

Wasn’t an accident, he agrees police brutality is bad. He just doesn’t think BLM is ok cause it talks about systematic racism as well, which he has a visceral reaction to

I recently saw the video that the riots clip was from. He is a genuinely terrible debater. He bounced off point constantly, continually trivialised the use of inductive reasoning, and couldn't so much as consider whether the rioting was connected to the behaviour of the police. Honestly the most terrifying and stand-out moment of this to me was that one moment where the mask slipped and he started fucking going on about "let the Black Lives Matter protesters come out here and try that shit, we know where the backhoes are, we know where the mass graves can be dug"
Like holy FUCK, I don't even know what to do with that. THAT is the kind of bullshit jingoism that you get from those people, "white americans are the most oppressed and if you protest your rights around us WE HAVE THE POWER TO GENOCIDE YOU." Like, jesus.

Grand Theft Auto. It’s a video game series about crime in various fictional American cities. While the latest iteration, GTA5, is pretty simplified and oriented towards multiplayer microtransactions, historically the series has been known for its darkly satirical take on American society. GTA4 especially was masterful satire, even of the internet of 2008.
That guy was so incredibly emotional and couldn't construct a single point without bouncing off personal reasons, anecdotes or a completely different talking point. I have genuine pity for this person. To be this utterly fearful for no reason must be taxing
P r e a c h.
When I hear him argue I hear someone doesn't want to be racist but the narrative he's been fed makes him feel like he's been given no choice. In his mind it's self defense.
