i think there was a serious problem in the bollywood film industry in the 90's , that these gorgeous beautiful women, like lisa ray, susmita sen, puja batra, didnt succeed that much. theese women were way ahead of time and fiercely independent. this conversation gives alot of insight to that time.
If only they could act as well! Being an actress is more than being just glamorous.

This was so long overdue. My earliest memory of her was from the movie she did with Aftab shiv dasani. The songs were phenomenal and both actors were at their best. Mohabbat hona jaye, kitni bechen hoke tumse mila and zindegi bangaye ho tum are still some of the best melodies.
Im surprised to hear you say that! She was a MAJOR face even before that! Or maybe youre much younger 😄! I have to agree about the music though...those songs are great!
The movie with Aftab is Kasoor it is actually based on the combination of 2 Hollywood movies Jagged Edge starring Jeff Bridges and Glenn Close and What Lies Beneath starring Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfiffer,

Lisa Ray is one actress who is very genuine, honest & truthful. She is a survivor and a fighter in true sense. I have seen most of her work in all the languages and she has done a tremendous job in all of them. She is one actress who is not afraid of performing unconventional roles and characters. She has seen success in such an early age and yet she is so humble. I totally admire her and adore her as a human being. More power to you Lisa. Hope we can see more of your good work in years to come.

Everything she said about her early years in the industry and how it wasn't her path to take shows just how much she is in touch with her inner self... Self-acceptance and happiness to what she has achieved. The fun, bindass attitude of hers and the very genuine feeling you get watching her talk with honestly, made me wanna know her in person. I don't say this about everyone but I truly admire her, she's beautiful inside out! My mother is a Cancer survivor so I know what it takes and how it changes you... She speaks well. That is all. The subtle degradation of our own language through the years is because we tend to continue putting english on this pedestral ,thanks to our colonial past. I myself have been guilty of this in the past, i speak 99% in english, inspite of being very fluent in hindi. But the thing is, once you know better, do better. Lisa is articulate, i agree. But "good english" is rubbish.

Surprise!!! Her birth country CANADA, so please don't berate our language, not forgetting she went to school. Lisa was born in Canada and Canada uses English and French on every dy basis so to know both languages is quite a must...
then she speaks Hindu after her father
and she could also speak Polish from her mom...and Polish
(my language as I am Polish myself)
is one of the most difficult languages in the world,
some sources say - second most difficult just after Chinese Cantonese.
I have no idea if she still speak Polish (maybe with her mom...)
as as I said it is very difficult language and unpractical
in a world wide film industry.
But Poland is also her home and we love her so much :)

Mrs. Lisa is the nicest person I could meet! And I know many actresses. Although she could be my mother, I would like to have such a friend. He is so open and honest. CONVINCED as me hehe (Mrs. Lisa, I do not miss you oxygen while speaking so fast xd) The first time I watched a movie with her participation in the company of Sheetal. A brilliant movie, virtually both two films are the best! I am Polish and Mrs. Lisa has Polish roots which inspired me a lot of reflection and reading a new book about her life :) I'm watching Bollywod and I'm going to go to those areas someday, I hope that I will exchange a few words with Mrs. Lisa :)
