@@tyrannosaurusflex3698 -- It's a long story but in essence, pre-ordering video games _should_ be a thing of the past because CDs and DVDs are no longer a thing, but it still happens in the hundreds of millions because large corporate game publishers incentivise kids to pre-order with extra cosmetic rubbish or XP, but once they have millions of dollars in pre-orders... why bother spending millions of dollars and thousands of work hours finishing the game and making it as good as it can be when a bunch of nieve people have already paid for it before they've even seen it or before it's even 50% complete, the result of which is strangling the gaming industry and making video games worse. I could type a huge post about how it has directly caused thousands of games to be released completely unfinished, forced good game developers out the industry, and split communities, but I can't say it better than a game journalist called *Total Biscuit*, Google his name and "Pre-order" and listen to his video/podcast, it will explain it better than I could and from a professional behind the scene viewpoint too.
