We need a KOTOR republic and sith trooper now. TVC has a republic one with removable helmet and is excellent. The figure could probably do with a wash of some kind and the head strips enhancing and some other paint touch-ups. Looking forward to getting mine.

I'm at the point where it's mostly CW or Prequel figures that really excite me. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that we've had over 50 figures from Disney plus shows before getting an episode 3 Darth Sidious. Collecting black series can be frustrating sometimes. However the quality of the figures are top tier for the most part and I can't wait to see the rumored Starkiller finally!

I got mine and Bastila a few days ago,and it blows my mind that Hasbro went above and beyond with Malak,the paint,the sculpt,the size and the new parts,then that removable face plate just puts the cherry on top

Damn he looks so good! Trying to think what other BS figure has ab crunch and waist/torso articulation in the line recently and no other figure come to mind.
Love towards the end you had Raven and Malak side by side! Great homage to KOTOR. He is going to be a blast to pose and shoot. This Review was worthy of the Star Forge Nate
Only thing I can think of that’s similar is the Jaina solo body but even that’s not 2 ball joints. This could be a first! I can’t wait to see the shots you come up with my friend! Thanks for watching brother! -Nate

@@OutOfTheBasement yah I just wish they weren’t so expensive both my dad and I have drastically reduced the amount of figs we get currently he mostly gets the black series and funko pops and I generally get a mix between vintage, black series and nascar diecast but these things are just getting to expensive
That lightsaber storage belt on his back waist is amazing. I have no memory of playing KOTOR but the figures coming from this game are incredible. In fact many of them are sculpted better and have better painted details than the mainline storyline figures. I’m done trying to figure out Hasbro. Their inconsistencies are the only thing they’re consistent at. Appreciate the review! Mine finally shipped from Pulse.

Hello Nate and thanks again for another great figure review. I just got notified by BBTS my Darth Malak is processing finally. Of course I just had 10 figures in my loot pile shipped because the oldest figures were at their last hold date. So it'll probably be awhile before I have another shipment from BBTS.
I have Reven on my shelf waiting for Malak and I guess it's going to be awhile. I really like the look of Malak's lightsaber and the storage without a hook works for me. I love the Face sculpt and paint details, I'm sorry your's is messed up my friend.
I might need to get another one or two for my friends but I'll check if they are interested in getting Malak. I got one of my friends Darth Reven for his Birthday one year and when Jedi Reven was released for a Christmas gift.
I'm sure Malak will look amazing next to Reven, can't wait. Another great review from the Basement channel. I appreciate your thoughts and how you take the time to make these videos for all of us. Tom

Great figure and review! I'm slightly nitpicky about the butterfly joints, doesn't look like the overlay is inhibiting them, I feel that more clearance definitely could've been sculpted/cut out. I love that he's huge.

Malak and Bastila are kind of a big deal for me because they give us a glimpse at the mythical KOTOR remake. If I had any money, I'd put a bounty on images of its concept art. Even if the game never comes to fruition, the art exists and I would like to see it. I'm not sure that there's ever been official art of Malak without his mask but here it is in all its semi-canonical glory. They nailed this half-Sith, half-officer redesign I can only imagine how awesome the other characters look.

I actually prefer this figure to the Malgus figure. Malgus is awesome and Malak can stand toe-to-toe with him in my opinion. Malak gives me Serious Dooku vibes- love it!

I'm yet to play KOTOR so this figure doesn't really make me too excited but I'll admit he looks cool! I think Bastila looks better imo as a figure.

I'm honestly surprised they didn't try charging deluxe prices for that figure.
I totally could see that being the case. I guess not enough accessories because it's only one. Maybe two or more accessories + big size is the criteria for deluxe?! -Justin
@@OutOfTheBasement I think it has the same amount of accessories and about the same size as the deluxe Malgus that's coming. Both have a removable mask, lightsaber and a cape.

Hmm. This figure has more paint than the average mainline figure? Not sure I agree there. In fact my first impression of the figure was the exact opposite. There doesn’t appear to be a lick of paint on it at all save for the face print/head detail, the little collar buttons, and maybe the silver belt buckle, which might be colored plastic but I’m not sure.
I’m not sure the red chest piece is painted. I think it’s just colored plastic and it’s a slightly different shade of red than the arms because it’s a different type of plastic.
I dunno. Maybe it’s just me. But I’m much more put off by the lack of paint on this figure than the great amount of paint on the Endor trooper legs which is costing me a few more dollars. At least there I’m getting something for my money. This figure just SCREAMS for the need of a wash to tone down that bright red Santa suit. As it is, he looks very bright and toy-ish.
Add in the limited wrist articulation and fairly limited butters and it’s an okay enough release I guess. nice to see these characters getting into the line for those that want them.
I guess we will have to disagree then! Everything I pointed out IS painted. The head alone has more paint than 90% of mainline figures. All the silver on the figure is for sure painted and same with the chest overlay, it’s all one piece so it literally cannot be 2 different shades unless painted.
I think you are crazy bro for thinking this is more offensive then the Endor Rebel. That figure is legit missing details while this one is just a victim of a simple costume design. I agree it could use a wash but otherwise the paint is absolutely where it needs to be on Malak.

If that separate chest overlay piece is painted then I think it’s a pretty awful choice of paint resources. A wash would have served this figure 1000 times better.

I do think Malak looks like a red popsicle but I still really like the figure. But Jhawk, don't you think for those extra $s the Endor Rebel shouldn't be missing those details? Malak definitely could have benefitted from a wash but honestly with mainline paint has gone down down down. For deluxe I think it's fair to expect the figure to be painted in full. -Justin
@@OutOfTheBasementess where I land is that while not every square inch of the Endor figure is painted, the pants alone have more paint than about the whole most recent mainline wave combined. Besides the pants which have TWO colors of paint that are gradients and fade into one another, The helmet has paint, the little strap of ammo has paint and the two faces are both uniquely painted.
So yeah it’s not ALL painted, there are buttons and buckles missing, but there is way more than normal and the overall effect to me when I look at that figure vs a standard black series figure now is that it feels more like black series figures USED to feel in terms of paint. It’s not all just body parts of colored Plastic. There is value there to me. Is it $8 of additional value? Maybe, maybe not.
I know the Asian labor market is freaking insane right now and that is what is driving that since that is where they are painting these. But I am not privy to a hasbro Balance sheet. So I can’t say for sure. I am at a place now though where if I could get the paint app quality from even 4 or 5 years ago I’d be willing to pay north of 30 bucks vs just seeing colored plastic bodies for sometimes $28.
Incidentally, Spector creative just made what I think is the best video he has ever done n his channel about how paint apps are decreasing in lines across the board and what it means for how figures are priced and who they are marketed to. they took too much liberty with scarring. His jaw was cut off with a lightsaber, he wasn't burned all over the sides of his head.

Disappointing; the legs and boots are obviously a reuse of somebody else; the proper Malak (KOTOR) has a tight bodysuit + streamlined long boots.
The legs are not reuse of anyone. Malak is taller then most regular black series figures so there’s literally no way. Also this design is based on the remake hence the differences. Thanks for watching! -Nate

Hello David I hope you're having a good day my friend. I got on this video pretty late because today I, my wife, and another friend were celebrating our other friend's Birthday. His Birthday was July 4th but today was the first day we could all get together with him. Needless to say the day was crazy busy.
I hope you and your daughter are well and your life isn't too hectic lately.

Daughter has effectively finished school now, exams and Prom, so is into her Summer holiday, before hopefully going to college (16-19 age here) in Autumn. Somewhat of a relief! Had a really strange few collecting days recently. I missed out on some really hard to get figures from the CW wave, that our online shop Star Action Figures "found" in their warehouse. 332 clone, Ahsoka cw, and Mauldalorian.... All minor grails for me... However, after tatting around moving bits of (very scarce!!) money around, trying to chase those, I've endeded up with Jedi knight exclusive Luke, blue line no.3 Luke (goofy) Original Cara Dune and apparently managed to score red/black box Chopper off Amazon for 22 quid this morning. 😀 A very hit and a very miss few days!!
