Just wanted to say I just picked up the earlier model RS 1400L from a shop who purchased it new over 6 years ago. I plan to get another 6-10 years of operation easily. Love these machines, I've tried a few different laminators but for the price, quality, and straight forward simple design these are still one of the best brands on the market.

You should add a small video on how to adjust the auto grips and what tool to use to loosen them. I cannot find anything on this.

Did you ever find out how to adjust the grips?

@@gingermccormick8257 There are 2 holes on one if the faces of each grip. Inside each hole is a set-screw you can loosen with an Allen wrench/hex key...pretty sure it's 2.5mm.

How the heck do you prevent the lamination from sticking to the metal output platen if the graphic is not as wide as the lamination?

You printed the graphic on a roll-to-roll printer, most likely. When you order your laminate, get it the same width as the substrate you print on.
The strange thing about this video is the presenter (or whoever prepared the graphics for him) cut the graphics apart before he laminated them. I always laminate the whole roll of prints then cut.

@@jmowreader9555 Yes, I made that same mistake the very first time I laminated my first sign. I printed my graphic with some other pieces to fill up the space on the vinyl, cut away my graphic for my sign, then put it in my laminator that had wider laminate loaded. I had to tape some scrap pieces to the side so the lam didn't stick to my roller.
