  • Capt. Carol Peckham has been a mariner for 24 years - 14 years with Crowley Marine Services and the last 8 years sailing as a Captain on one of Crowley’s tugboats.
Capt. Peckham started with Crowley as a deckhand and later became a chief mate sailing aboard Crowley tugs Leader, Master, Scout and Admiral from Crowley tugboats base in San Pedro, Calif. In 2014. She became a captain and has been safely assisting large vessels in and out of the Port of Los Angeles/Long Beach ever since.
“While it hasn’t been easy, the rewards have been well worth it. I tell people that being a mariner is an excellent way to earn a living and provide for a family,” said Capt. Peckham. “Work hard and you’ll be accepted.”

What a breath of fresh air, a person who put in an honest days work, struggle thru the requirements and checked off the days. Congrats, I've done it myself, although not as high as this wonderful captain, and, "It ain't easy". :-)
