Sometime getting following error - connection disconnected with error 'error server returned handshake error handshake was canceled.' How to fix this issue ?
Aww, so I managed to get it installed and running SSL. The web page works great. The instant support client for windows works great. The Ubuntu instant support client does not think it is an image despite setting the executable bit. Neither the Windows or Ubuntu Resident Agents ever show up in the Grid Dashboard, so I see no way to use the resident agents. The Windows Resident agent at least asks for the server name. The ubuntu script to install the resident agent never asks for anything. This is a great program for instant attended support of Windows, but since I was hoping for unattended support and this lacks that, I am sticking with nomachine which works for Windows, Linux, and ARM and even mac.
Hi! Yes, you are correct. This seems to work REALLY well for windows machines, but is lacking support for other operating systems. Hopefully it will continue to grow and support more in the future. NoMachine is a great tool as well that I also find myself going back to.
@@TechCoreDuo After a lot of testing, I discovered that Remotely appears to work just fine on both Windows and various Linux. The instant support client script has a setting for both the Hostname of the server and the Organization code. For some reason, my script was blank for these values. I went into the installed folder structure and edited the script to include these values and now both the instant support client and the resident agents work. I have discovered though, that the resident agent for Ubuntu has issues with running in Ubuntu when the Ubuntu instance is either a virtual machine or an LXC instance with a desktop installed. I had an LXC instance of Ubuntu show up in the portal, but selecting remote control never started the session and the VM version of Ubuntu was unable to reach my URL for my Remotely server. It almost sounds like a dependency might be missing. It is noteworthy to point out that a Windows VM works perfectly. In examining the installation, it appears that they are using some Microsoft bits. Could this be using RDP? Understanding the protocol in use would go a long way to figuring out what is preventing the resident agent for linux from running. My bare metal Ubuntu resident agents are working. In addition to remotely, I am using Nomachine and also Guacamole. Nomachine works fabulously but lacks a good dashboard like Remotely and is not WAN friendly. Guacamole is WAN friendly, but uses VNC which is not always easy to configure on the target machine. Guacamole is nicer in some respects because it also supports "ssh" terminal connections as well as the GUI.
It actually does support unattended, but you have to build it, not just execute the demo. You put in your server address so the executables have that built in.
I want to install this behind my existing nginx. Is there a way to install this with Apache rather than the Nginx in the script because nginx behind nginx does not work well.
Have you guys figured out the Github actions to customize the build or to build it from source locally to pre-configure the serverURL and Organization ID in the client binary installers? I'm trying to figure that out and if you have I'd really appreciate some insight/direction to speed up my learning curve. I am at the point of it running on Github and the tests are completing but the build/deployment automation I'm trying to figure out creating github secrets and an ssh key but it's failing the build and deployment automation to my server. I'm about to switch gears and install visual studio to see if I can figure out how to build it locally and deploy it manually. But I'm not a .NET developer by a long stretch so any bit you could help me see what I'm not doing right would be hugely appreciated. I'll happily teach others once I have that figured out.
@@TechCoreDuo sure no problem. I discovered another issue with the clients being connected and then after reboot they are "connected" but it seems like the websocket that's used for the remote commands and remote desktop streaming is erring out. I'm going to work on debugging that, I see an error pertaining to the server ID string missing. It's confusing because it works, then it doesn't, then I reinstall the client and it works again. I will keep you posted. I'm in St. Louis and own South City Computer so it's cool to network with you guys. I like your channel. I should do one myself I guess I have so much time in the industry doing probably 10,000 laptop repairs and before that I was a unix systems programmer developing open source software since before it was popular. So your channel is inspiring. I just need to put stuff out there.
just what I need right now. Thanks so much
Happy to help!

You can change the ports that each Ngnix instance run on...

Sorry I'm not sure, but would love to see a resolution to that. Keep me posted if you figure anything out or have a write up on it!

.NET, PowerShell and .dll for Linux!? All of this happens when Windows developers create programs for Linux. The program is not suitable for Linux.
You could contribute to the project and make it better...
