I was 9 at this time, I already loved playing the sport with my friends at school, at the city park, or at home. Yet, I understood very little what football meant to me and everyone else. Before I knew it, I would watch my first World Cup game ever México vs France. Being a son of Mexican parents, and a young supporter Chivas de Guadalajara from the Mexican First division, I supported Mexico throughout the World Cup. I liked to see México play well until their defeat against Argentina. During that match I recognized one player’s name because a cousin of mine would always talk about him. That player is none other than Lionel Messi. I asked my dad what he knew about him and he told me about how great he was and that he was the best footballer in the world. I was shocked to hear how great he was. I decided to watch every matchup from the World Cup and started comparing players. Chicharito, Messi, Ronaldo, Kaka, Iniesta, Müller, etc. I started seeing how so many countries have very talented players. And not only that with all the media surrounding the World Cup I saw how people around the world are as passionate as us Mexicans for football, for their country, for their squads, for their players. Then the final when Spain wins the final and everyone even my family was going crazy for Iniesta’s winning goal. Even I felt great emotion for that goal even though it was my first few times seeing footballers from out of Mexico. Seeing Spanish supporters so extremely happy for getting to see their players lift that World Cup trophy. That’s when I truly fell in love with Football, not just playing it, not just watching it, but also the way it brings us fans together, how we are willing to give everything for our club and country, how it gives us all the courage and hope to say “we’ll win it one day!” I fell in love with what is now known to me as ‘The Beautiful Game’ Fast forward to today, I still support Mexico, I still support Chivas, but now I also support a club in Europe, FC Barcelona and my favorite footballer of all time is Lionel Messi. I still love playing the sport and now I’ve gotten closer with my family because of it and I’ve made so many friends because of football. Wether they support rival clubs or not, we’ve gotten along because of football. And I’ll forever be grateful to this sport and the 2010 FIFA World Cup!

Who can forget Simphiwe Tshabalala's World Cup Opening Goal against Mexico? That was a spectacular! It got me running outside the streets of my neighborhood and BLOWING my Vuvuzala Haaaard!!!! I was literally 7 years old when i first watched wc and it was in 2010.It's really hard to dercribe how great expectations i had before it even started and it actually came true. In my opinion this was the best football "event" i've ever seen in my life.Hope that someday they will introduce us something better,but i don't think that it's possible without two goats...
