This is a tremendous help. After a stroke I'm slowly trying to get back in music. Can't recall much of Cubase anymore. Great video, Dom.
Thanks! In the 90s I was loading Cubase to my Atari every day after school, a couple of years later I quit the Australian Institute Of Music Cubase course at 19 years old for knowing more than the certified Cubase instructor. That was 1996. Now 26 years later inside of Logic and Ableton, I am returning to an unrecognisable version of Cubase. This helps a lot. Thank you. Crazy how I’m more of a student at 44. Sigh.
Out of curiosity what was you reason to change
Do you still remember SGI version Cubase?
I had Cubase as well in the late 80s and 90s. Never left. However Logic's virtual instruments are amazing. Wish Cubase would upgrade the virtual instrument quality and selection.
We share a similar trajectory. Hope we pick up the skills quickly.
Same here. Cubase on 1040STE in 1991.
Best 14 minutes a new user could spend. Great information - not rushed or complicated. Great job Dom.
Much appreciated!
THE BEST 14 MINUTES EVER THANK YOU..
The best Cubase 13 beginners' tutorial I have encountered!
Accurate, fast, straight to the point and extremely helpful. Spot on.
Dom THANK YOU!! I've been compossing in FL Studio for almost a decade, but been wanting to move over to Cubase for mixing and mastering. This video helps a lot. I'm completely new to Cubase!
Thanks, Dom! your tutorials are fantastic. So many other youtube tutors could learn your pacing and quality of production.
Amazing info! 🔥😍
Just bought Cubase this was extremely helpful, many thanks
Ayyy Thank you bro. I appreciate the lessons
He does a FANTASTIC job explaining this 👍👍
Thank you so much for this! I was very familiar and comfortable with Ableton Live but I had to switch to Cubase for one of my clases and when I opened it i was super lost and out of my comfort zone, but I found this video and now I´m all set!
Dom. Broad overview videos like this perform a valuable service. It is easy to get bogged down in details. A video that shows the big picture is SO important.
I've watched so many videos here and this one has me recalling things I have viewed previously, but not yet included into my workflow. Now I have many tips to improve everything. Many thanks....
I'm still lost
😂😂😂
You need a tutorial of 15 minutes

Appreciate your talents Dom
I have been using cubase for over 30 years now and this does a great job of the basics
Great introduction to Cubase! Being a complete newbie to DAW's and audio composing in general, this is very helpful in making me feel comfortable in the choosing Cubase Artist for a fun and rewarding hobby in my mid-life crisis. 🤣
I've watched well over 100 hours of cb11pro tutorial videos. This is by far the easy to follow, the one I got the most information from and was layed out very concisely. I'm useless with computers so I'm easily put off by over complicated drop down windows and computer terminology that I don't know. You would not believe how helpful this video is! Now do a trouble shooting one just like this, where you cover latency issues, set ups, download management and hardware. 😃thank you very much!
Amazing short video and a likable guy! Thanks a lot, man!
After 12 years with FL Studio it is finally happening, a move to Cubase because I'm reaching the limits within FL Studio with cinematic orchestrations. Looking forward to the journey :)
Let’s go! 🔥
Very clear, thank you ! Outstanding video.
thx for the warning 👍
Thank you Dom, like always.
v cool to see the general depth of this software! The EQ being built into the console does make it a mixing powerhouse :P thanks for sharing!
Dope video Dom + Steinberg! I think what would help is how to set up key commands for the beginner for Cubase in addition.
Navigation/Workflow is the number one problem for new customers. 😅
Hey YungstarProd, take a look at the following video from us: ruclips.net/video/lCW7Bx2DUc8/видео.html
I got my first new Cubase 12 pro, I'll work on these tips, THANK YOU!
A Brilliant Quicky !
Well done, you have amazing exaplanation and you have a clear understanable way. Tank you.
Super helpful. Thank you!
Awesome man.... VERY ENGROSSING

Very helpful thanks could I Use An Akai Midi Keyboard with Cubase?
Thanks to this guy i bought steinberg ur22c
Are these loops and samples royalty free so I can use them in my projects?
¡Thanks! I'm starting to love Cubase than I used to...
10:41 you should've shown how to open Groove Agent.

Thanks for this video, it has been very helpful.
Please please please, could you do a walk through of setting up a Microphone including 48V phantom power. I'm using a Mac M1 mini on an Apollo X4 Thanks in advance
I remember back in the 90's I opened up Cubase and didn't understand diddly squat. So I bought a 4 channel cassette recorder and used that instead 🤣
yes, it's look very cool, but a french version would realy help me... thank .
Dear Dom, can you tell me who created your wonderful intro-animation?? I need an eyceatching intro for a project...
I got Cubase aqnd wavelab in bundle with my beloved Zoom H4n Pro. But I have no idea what those software do. Now I have to learn everything about it.
thank you so much
there's no audio for the virtual instruments
Great video thank you. I'm playing with the free demo at the moment and deciding whether to purchase or not but this makes me think that it's a bit more user friendly than ableton.
Great video 😁💪🎵👍
Nice video, is it a Rétrologue pad? which one is it ? he's cool.
Thank you!!!
Thanks!
Does Cubase Pro 13 give the Bmp time signature via detection?? Or do you have to plug it in?
Can the right zone be hidden so I have more visible audio/midi?
Very helpful!
Totally awesome love this kind of walk through thanks
Great Tutorial
Superb , I've got the Cubase elements 11 but I'm certainly going for the upgrade to cubase 12 artist as it's cheaper to do so as a current customer
Very helpful ❤❤
Steinberg geni
I loaded Retrologue but couldn't hear any sound using my MIDI keyboard, is there something else i need to engage? Thanks!
I'm a true novice with this sort of thing. To start, I want to be able to have one track where I record my vocals to a song and the other track would be a WAV file of recorded music. From here I want to mix the 2 tracks and then finish. Is this possible in Cubase? If it is, I may get Cubase and figure this out. Thanks!
Does Cubase supports or recognize piano damper/sustain pedals fr VST’s cuz other DAWs like FL Studio and Studio One does not? This is big for pianists. It’s important to hear the damper pedal and just know it sustains the notes.
why you dont have multi vocal mastering tutorial?
Cubase Elements 12 does supporting this plugin VST, VST2, VST3 ?
Nice shirt! Cubase started on the Atari ST.
I downloaded the trial a few days and I'm liking it but I'm getting frustrated not being able to use my computer microphone to record with my audio interface in Cubase. Why does it have to be that difficult if it's even possibly to do it in Cubase? Cubase doesn't allow me to use my computer mic separate from my audio interface. It's a very easy set up in every DAW I've used except for Cubase.
What if I dont have a Piano? How can I put it on my song?
tnx
How do I add my plugings in the mixer Insert strip?
I got a m-audio 61 keyboard, how do I get in for my DAW to recognize it??
I am trying to figure this out I have an older iMac, plus older keyboard yamaha mx49. it does not seem to show on the studio set up? and or midi setup?? I connected via usb cable. something I am doing wrong?
Hey bro nice vid and thanks. Im trying out the free 14 days on Splice and I really enjoy it. I wish there was a way to set the piano roll to come up bigger tho. I cant see that well no more haha!! Hey if there isnt thats cool i can use zoom. Have a great day bro play on
Hello Dom great I appreciate
Can you detach windows for multiple screens?
Is there anyway to contact you personally to ask a question about how you do video streaming and have such clarity playing music?
Hi Dom. Can you make a Video for score… it’s so complicated Write music Traditionally
For scoring? If you write with music notation-I would check our Dorico Pro instead.
If you are sticking with Cubase, start by building a template with your strings, brass, winds, percussions and synth-first.
Everything can be played freehand and there are auto-quantize features that can help you along the way.
If you need a visual on how ppl score in Cubase, check out “Daniel James” (HybridTwo) on RUclips. Hope this helps!
Dom, did you share your Trap Bass Preset from Retrologue yet?
When I try to record the retrologue, It doesn't records anything, so I can't see the midinotes part, what am I doing wrong? I have enabled the record and hit record at the bottom too?
Hey... Thanks for the tutorial but I am having some issues while recording any track. Can you help me. Please
I have cubase 12 pro. How can I recordind a midi channel (electronic drums) together with the backing track song so that I can then do the final fade in fade out settings on the new audio channel?
Awesome!
Very nice
This is the most complicated software for no reason
it's that color theme you have that I'm eyeballing, is there a download for it :)
i used to use cubase in high school lessons
Hi Dom great content brother THANK YOU if you developa course I would pay for it ??
Thank You ..
How did you added your piano/external keyboard to Cubase?
At 4:37 his Synth channel looks different with more options than in the previous shot. What did he do to make these extra things appear? I can see an unlock there, a freeze icon, a note... where/how do you make this occur?
I got a Zoom H5 recorder that bundled with a free Cubase LE and I don't know what to do with it... Any suggestions as where should I start? I'm not a musician and know little about instruments and music but I am interested to learn how to make music.
I.curremtly use cubase 4 (yea I know) can I just ask will I find it familiar and will my .song arrangments load up in it ?
omg thank you for the tutorial!!!
I do not have Retrologue. It only shows No VST Intrument
