- This is a quick landscape timber enclosure build using 30 landscape timbers and 4” wood screws. This is log cabin style, 8x16 and 5 layers high. We dug the first layer under, fitted plastic chicken wire in between the first and second layer- measured it about 8” wide and then dug it under the grass and dirt. This will help prevent them from burrowing out from under. We accomplished this in about 4-5 hours (with a few breaks in-between as it was HOT in PA). Our favorite part is decorating the enclosure with plants, shrubs, rocks, slate and logs so be sure to check back in for that video which should come in the next couple of weeks.
We had an amazing couple from MD drive 4 hours to PA to drop off their 16 year old Russian tortoise named Frank (Franklin but we will call him Frankie-boy!) We are looking forward to watching Frankie thrive in his new home and hope he enjoys his new life living with other tortoises like himself!
Stay tuned for more videos!
Thanks,
Susan And Bob
I like what you are doing for the species. Very informative.
You should give an update on that enclosure, one year later.
We will! We repurposed that enclosure for the three toeds! Update to come soon :)
Really happy to see you back! I was gunn ask what's happened how come you sold the property? Where all the animals but then I read a comment. Sorry to hear covid hit you so hard!! Great to see you back though. I look forward forward more videos!!

@@BackyardTortoise is it your plan to build up the collection again? You had so many animals to retime that must have been a nightmare!
@@Bulldog2108 Ahh it was heartbreaking. Someday Susan and I want to do a video telling the whole story. It was too difficult to do videos as it was happening.
Excellent work my friends . Can't wait to see you guess grow again
Thank you!!!
y'all moved out of NC?? Don't have those torts anymore?
Yup. We ran into issues mainly due to covid so we sadly had to find homes for our animals and move back to PA.
