Singur dakat kali mandir || Kashi vishwanath seva samiti || Near Tarakeshwar

We visited Tarakeshwar or Tarakeswar very recently. On the way, we have visited
two beautiful places, both of them have historical importance.
(1) Singure dakat Kali mandir:
It is approximately 65 km away from Kolkata town.
On Delhi road, after Ratanpur bridge a right turn will take you to this
mandir. Nasibpur or Singur is the nearest rail station where you can reach the
mandir. Singur dakat kali has a rich history. Nestled in the green cover of
village Puroshottampur, the Kali Puja in Dakat Kali temple here,
as the villagers say, is about 500 years old.
Legendary stories surround this ‘Dakat Kali Puja’.
It is said, once here lived two dacoits, Raghu and Gagan.
They were a terror in the region.
But both were ardent devotees of Mother Kali.
They worshipped Mother Kali before setting in for dacoity. In ancient days,
dacoit used to believe, Goddess Kali induces power in them.
(2) Kashi vishwanath seva samiti:
kashi vishwanath seva samiti is 35 km from singur dakat kali mandir. It is
a place where in Shravan month (Bengali month) a huge number of pilgrims
meet here. It is a resting place for them. After a long walk to offer water to
the tarakeshwar mandir,many travelers and pilgrims love to rest here. It is operated by
some NGO. Great place to visit.
