One reason for the four fingers is because that in old films/cartoons, the animater or drawers for the cartoon found out that putting 1 finger less saves alot of money so glich productions just used the same idea.

I’ve always had this strange theory ever since I first saw the amazing digital circus, once a character abstracts they go back to the real world and live life like normal and t a d c is just to see how long someone can survive before going crazy so once they leave there is no human would to control their character in result they abstract and become a virus of sorts in the code.
