Gladys Knight actually was one of the ones who DISCOVERED the Jackson 5. Diana Ross PRESENTED them to the world. That was a publicity stunt put on by Motown. Diana was extremely well known due to her being in the Supremes, and of course she had her solo career. I feel like BOTH Greg and Siedah need to be in the film because they played a big part on MJ'S career. Greg goes waaaay back with Michael. They had been working together since Michael was still part of The Jacksons. With Siedah...... From what I can tell "Man in the Mirror" is going to be a big part of the film. For that reason alone I feel she should be part of it. MJ fans know who wrote the song, but there are some people who will see the movie don't know that. She should AT LEAST be referenced. I still can't wait to see this movie, and I can't wait to read Siedah's book.
Greg had no impact on MJ’s personal life. They are casting people who were part of his personal life. Brad Buxer was a closer friend to MJ to than Greg and Brad isn’t in it. Glen Ballard also wrote Man in the Mirror.. he’s not in it either.
Gladys Knight discovered the Jackson 5 along with Bobby Taylor at the Apollo Theater. Gladys got them their Motown audition. Siedah Garrett should have definitely been included in the film. I hope Liongate doesn't Hollywood'd Michael's story and legacy.
Correction... Gladys Knight discovered the Jackson 5 at The Regal Theater in Chicago, not The Apollo. The Jackson 5 did lots of shows at The Regal Theater in Chicago because it was right up the road from Gary Indiana. The Regal Theater was Chicago's version of The Apollo and The Jackson 5 did a lot of battles there against up and coming heavy weights like The Five Stairsteps, The Emotions, The Chi-Lites etc they were all teenagers trying to get a record deal and Gladys Knight was there at the VERY beginning before ANYBODY so she deserves to be acknowledged. She performed at Michael's 30th Anniversary for a reason.
I am not surprised Siedah Garrett isn't in the film, Michael Jackson had such long career that you could do a 5 hour film on his life, that is why I was a little worried, and originally wanted do a 10 part series, but based off the teaser trailer at CinemaCon I still excited.
I've also been worried about runtime. I mean, how much are they gonna talk about the Jackson 5? How much of his life are they gonna cover? His career spans most of his life!! I know it would NEVER be this long, but I would DEFINITELY watch a 5-6 hour Michael Jackson movie. Even then, they wouldn't be able to cover everything. I kind of wish they did go the miniseries route. It's only a year until we get to see the movie, though. I can't wait!!
I want to see Don Cornellus portrayed in this film. All the times the Jacksons have been on Soul Train. They spent more time on that show then American Bandstand.
This biopic is about Michael Jackson’s life, not a documentary of his work. Seidah’s already been covered in Bad 25. This is an MJ biopic, Seidah’s making it about herself. Bruce Swedien isn’t in the film. She was not a personal friend of Michael.
I “COMPLETELY AGREE”!!! Siedah Garrett was and is Absolutely Amazing! Michael and Siedah had So Much chemistry on stage and her contribution with the song Man In The Mirror is Epic!! She of any should DEFINITELY be cast in the Michael Movie! That would really hurt the movie if she wasn’t in it! She has been there for Michael they it all. Praying she gets her shot at the movie!! She deserves to be! Thank You for this!! Much love for Siedah Garrett!! Missing Michael Jackson everyday!!🤍🙏🤍😇✝️
Well we can't take credit for everything beautiful in the world, nor are we supposed to but someone recognized how beautiful that song is and gave it to a really big name to make it come alive.
Seidah was a professional collaborator and those who contributed far more than her or knew MJ longer are not in the film like Bruce Swedien or Teddy Riley. Her main contribution is Man in the Mirror and that’s in the film. Glen Ballard who wrote the song with her isn’t in the film either. She did not have a personal impact on Michael Jackson nor was she a close friend, she was a background singer. Even Jennifer Batten or Jonathan Moffet is not in the film. Fans are making too big a deal of this.
Keep goin wit deez videos bro🔥 Ive been a Mj fan my whole life … We standing up for him regardless💯 u say a lot of shii I be saying lol fw your vids Man!
She has to be in the movie, at least for a while. She was there for him too in the Dangerous tour, pranking each other like crazy ( the blonde wig She wore during the live show that made Michael laugh all over their duet) ...reg the MITM being so important, what about other message songs MJ wrote and composed, such as Earth song, We,ve had enough, Heal the world and so on? In my opinion MITM wouldn't had the impact that has and had without Michael,s interpretation of it.
Them including Gladys Knight in the movie only tells me one thing and thats they're going to play out The Jackson 5 being discovered in the early 60s at the Chicago Regal theater & N.Y. Apollo theater. Gladys Knight & the pips seen them first & shot some information to certain people like Bobby Taylor to come check them out.
Gladys Knight and Bobby Taylor discovered the Jackson 5.. Andy Warhol made the iconic Time magazine cover of MJ and had a skin disease like MJ and visited studio 54 with him. I don’t think he will more than a reference. Liza Minnelli, Liz Taylor, Janet Jackson haven’t been cast.. I don’t think Seidah should make this about herself.
I know the story of Bobby Taylor, I don’t remember him mentioning Gladys unless he took them to Gladys or something along those lines. But I know he was the real guy behind the Jackson 5
@@misterDjayMDJ I’ve watched a couple interviews of Tito and Jackie where they’ve mentioned Gladys being apart of them being discovered. I think Michael even mentioned it once in his home movies
@@misterDjayMDJ pretty sure that part will be depicted in the movie since they are going to show J5 and their rise to fame. I know some people didn’t care for J5’s story to be told again because of The Jackson’s movie but, this is going to be a bigger film and a lot of people truly don’t know of Michaels beginning from Gary
1) This isn’t a big deal tbh cause MJ spoke on his private phone conversations how he really never had a personal relationship w/ any of his background singers/bandmates outside of music 2) Siedah is friends w/ Oprah aka THE SNAKE! 3) Are we going to see a film about MJ or everyone else let’s get real, Siedah isn’t a name who was relevant amongst pop culture history or within any of the decades MJ was prevalent in like a Andy Warhol,Gladys Knight or Dick Clark etc. so let’s just keep things into perspective we have to be focused here the filmmakers know what they’re doing.✍🏽🎯💯
Gladys Knight actually discovered Michael and she spent a lot of time with him when he was little. Berry Gordy felt is better for Diana Ross to present the Jackson 5 as though she discovered them. I grew up with The Jackson 5 from the 60’s.
She might be mentioned in the movie but even if she isn't there's so many other people that didn't get too voice what they experienced with michael. The movie is called michael for a reason
Latoya is Michael sister she did more than accuse him of child molestation. She grew up with him, lived in NYC with him during the filming of the Wiz, and also apologized to MJ after the accusations were gone and she divorced the monster who was making her go against her family! Besides the accusation scene I look forward to the other parts.
Didn’t say that she wasn’t MJ’s sister nor did I say that the only thing she ever did in life was falsely accuse Michael. I’m talking significance in terms of his story and career. The fact that she was there living with him in NYC isn’t significant, sure she was there with him but meeting Quincy Jones during the Wiz and him being exposed to the scene at Studio 54 are the highlights of that time period; Latoya was a witness and just happened to be there. Grand-scale, Siedah Garrett writing Man In The Mirror, singing I Just Can’t Stop Loving You and touring with him is, in my eyes significant enough to be part of the story. That was my point.
@@misterDjayMDJ I agree Siedah should be apart of the film, but the whole Jackson family NEEDS to be portrayed in the film, without a doubt! Siedah'' part in MJs life is like a one or two minute moment in one or two scenes, but Latoya is more significant and when you're painting a scene you have to include everyone there not just the people he is supposed to meet. Latoya and Michael were also amongst the last of the children to leave home, another important pivotal time in MJs life. But Siedah definitely needs to be shown or at the very least mentioned since Man in the Mirror is the highlight song of this film.
Oh yeah for sure! We’re on the same page, I would say the same thing if they said LaToya wasn’t in it. It would be strange just like Siedah not being in it. IMO everyone that had a positive hand on Michael’s life in some way shape or form should be depicted in the film even if it’s just a scene or two. People that were close to him professionally being brushed off to the side like that rubs me the wrong way. But yeah to get more context on what that time period was like in NYC will be fun to watch.
Siedah Garrett should be in the movie. But I don't know if that's set in stone. They put out cast updates every month. Rebbie Jackson hasn't been cast yet. For Rebbie, that's Kyla Pratt all damn day!
Based on what Bill Botrell implied, seems like the film will be focused more on dramatic elements and Branca being the lawyer "that Michael needed" than Michael's artistry. I'm a little worried but we will have to wait until the trailer comes out. But Siedah should have been there at least as a backup singer on the Dangerous Tour since they have recreated Michael's performance of MITM from that tour. I saw photos on Siedah on the set watching that recreation and I thought she was going to be in it. Really disappointing. But her absence won't really be a trainwreck. At the end of the day, the film is about Michael Jackson. Hopefully they get it right.
this is goint to be the branca jackson flim I saw on imnodb that the cast listinf has jaafar at number 6 and branca at number 1 im worried on that point
Yeah. Branca is one of the people in charge of MJ's estate, so it's no wonder he couldn't resist inserting himself in there as much as he can. Siedah, not being a part of this is just wrong, IMO. From what I'm hearing the song "Man in the Mirror" is going to be a big part of the film, so deciding to not have the one who wrote the song in the film is really odd to me. Hopefully, the film is still really good, though.
Latoya was close to MJ before she got married and that guy absused her and made her say all those those things about Michael. Gladys Knight and Bobby Taylor discovered the Jackson 5
I agree that Siedah should be in there but Glayds was the VERY FIRST person to discover The Jackson 5 at The Regal Theater in Chicago so she absolutely deserves acknowledgement.
If they’re covering Michael’s time in New York filming the Wiz, he lived with LaToya Jackson that’s why she was in the film. I think a small scene of her giving the song man in the mirror to Michael ( arguably his best song ever) would have been perfect and fine .
