      Hey deathblade do you have a discord or something I could contact you with.
      I want to be clear I have no association with this book other than being an avid reader who really thinks it has potential: its an original book by a girl named jelim called "A monster inside" its on webnovel but she never signed a contract with them as she didn't agree to the terms (she was vague in the comments)
      After learning from you about how underpaid people are at webnovel I was hoping you could take a look at the book I just mentioned and decide for yourself on the quality
      Ultimately I really think the author is talented and has made a book that really deserves proper advertising, support, and love...this author deserves to be popular and loved in my opinion and after checking out her work if you agree I wanted to help get you guys in contact and see if she would be welcome at ww
      To repeat: I have no association to the author other than liking her book and remembering she posted a discord where fans can go and talk with her (ie so I think I can contact her)
      She has no idea who you are at this moment but I really think once you have the time and decide for yourself if you want to help, you could really be her hand of fate.
      Btw im 20, my interests in books are not so childish or simple.
      Please measure my sincerity and and belief in this book by the length of this comment lol. I understand you are really busy and basically what I'm asking you is to put more on your plate, thanks regardless lol.
      Ps shes finishing the second volume right now (almost two hundred pages)

There was a brief experiment with the concept a while back, but RWX sort of dropped that aspect of the company from what I understand. Have you ever come across - Fonebastian Unexpected Framework - (should be on google have a look ) ? I would like to put some exemples here and that they actually could be defined by the words used.
    -Meditation: it's the main method. It's used specially not to get stronger, but to stabilize your cultivation. Meditation normally is the slowest way for getting stronger, but the surest. And is commonly said to be a prerequisite to meditate before and after you use other practice that is more radical. They are primarily internal and about mind, heart, spirit and energy. They could affect the body though, depending on the cultivation method (the technique used for meditation).
    -- Energy Meditation: circulate energy and improve your oneself as a whole. The more basic form of cultivation, normally associated with stabilization and with slow improvement. It brings the concept of slow, but continuous accumulation of Daoism. Sitting and closed eyes.
    -- Reflexive Meditation: reflect morally, ethically, philosophically, about one self and one's actions or state of being, or just meditating on the nothingness, this last one more spiritual and Dao oriented, I think (void meditation, a buddhist concept practice, rarely used in novels). Normally sitting and closed eyes.
    - Menial task: doing some kind of task repetitively, extensively and continuously, in search of a new understanding of its own life, cultivation and Dao. Like fishing, carving, farming, writing and so on. This one normally ends in some type of enlightenment, but not always, sometimes they are a cultivation on specific state of mind/heart/spirit so as to develop it and get better at your craft and magic (Like in Nightfall a character pass her time always writing and doing calligraphy so to her develop a sense of her own world, in her heart, and it get her magic stronger),. This could be called "meditation", but not in the novels. This one is normally about your way in the world, cosmos, universe...
    - Medicinal cultivation: ingest medicine and taking its properties so to develop your body, mind and cultivation base. It's actually a concept that comes from real Daoism, like the search for the immortality pill and enlightenment pill. This search was the reason for some wars and lunacy of some monarchs.
    - Artifact assimilation: assimilation of artifacts with magical properties. Normally natural, but not always.
    - Evil cultivation: procedures that drain the energies from other people, normally requires killing or crippling, but sometimes can be done "halfway" so as to say, like keep the person as a reserve. The actions normally include cannibalism, sex (rape) and soul draining (sometimes is just energy theft). Often times this can not only take energy of the person, but her intellect, memories, awareness and even Dao (personal Dao's, specially if the setting uses physical representations of one's Dao as an internal but physical aspect like a "materialized" soul, vortex of energy, cultivated objects in general...)
    - Dual cultivation: procedures done between two people. Can be sexual, but not necessarily. Normally it requires a sinergy and harmony between the two, and they circulate the energies between them so as to transmute those energies and themselves. It relates to energy, spirit, behavior, Dao...
    - Training: a technical procedure of developing yourself in specific ways, based on a preset method (normally). Like training in a technique or magic. More external method.
    - Fighting: yes, fighting normally is described as the "best way" of getting stronger. This is a cultivation action that put all the cultivation base in a strain, it commonly has the potencial to enhance everything. But normally is said to be some kind of unstable practice let's say. It's good, but not with your base unstable. That normally means that you have to meditate a lot to put everything in order inside yourself before fighting, so as to not hurt your own base. More external method.
    Well that's it that I can remember top of mind. Each one can be more internal or external, more Dao focused, or technical focused, or about discern between truth and falsehood in your life and reality or just a blunt procedure for getting stronger, the energy based ones.

    An important idea in eastern occult practices the "subtle body," a component of a living being that is not made of normal matter, but of some invisible spirit-like substance. Ideas such as qi circulation, chakras, meridians, mana, etc. all relate back to this basic concept. I think of cultivation as exercise and training for the subtle body, and just like training your material body gives you physical strength, training your subtle body gives you occult abilities.

    great content, explained in great detail, I want to add:
    修仙 xiu xian: to cultivate toward immortal (normally refers to daoism path which can be more defined as 修道)
    修佛 xiu fo: buddism path
    修魔 xiu mo: evil path
    道 dao in a lot of the novels context refers to the paths, 三千大道 as you mentioned, 3 thousand dao, is 3 thousand paths, easier to think of it as schools of magic, but more immortalish
    different dao is different paths, end goal is immorality regardless of the cultivation methods hence 修仙

    A simple way to differentiate between the two is the difference between a Cleric/Wizard and a Paladin/Martial Artist in terms of how they fight. The Cleric or Wizard focus on the energy manipulation, while the Paladin/Fighter or Martial Artist focus their magical talents to augment their physical stats for combat.

    • @Deathblade
      @Deathblade  4 года назад +3

      That works as a very basic analogy. But not if you go in very deep. For instance, most "cultivation" systems have body/mind/soul as the three major areas of cultivation, with "body cultivation" being focused almost solely on strength and hand-to-hand combat. Plus, the leveling systems are a big factor as well. If you're using D&D, the highest level you're going to see in Wuxia is going to be like 15-20. But with xianxia/xuanhuan, you might as well consider 1-20 the first level tier, with subsequent levels going into the hundreds if not thousands.

    In Chinese, the concepts of "shen" (神) and "xian" (仙) are quite similar and often merged. In Chinese, the Western "God" is also referred to as "shen" (神). However, there are more nuanced distinctions. In Chinese novels, a "shen" (神) is more akin to characters from Norse mythology, like Thor, and not like Jesus from Christianity. A "shen" (神) refers to beings with superpowers who also hold specific positions and authority, such as Poseidon, the god of the sea, Hephaestus, the god of fire, or gods of the sun and moon.
    On the other hand, a "xian" (仙) refers to beings with superpowers but without specific positions or authority. For example, if an ordinary human gains superpowers through cultivation, they would be considered a "xian" (仙). To become a "shen" (神), they would need to find a way to replace an existing shen(神).
    Nowadays, many novels do not strictly adhere to these distinctions. They often simplify the concepts by defining "shen" (神) and "xian" (仙) as different power levels, with "shen" (神) being more powerful than "xian" (仙). So, don't be confused when you encounter such terms in these novels.

    After I read many cultivation novels, I got a crazy thought. i.e what if the gods humans worship are cultivators who came from higher dimension. I only got this thought because if there was only 1 God then I wouldn't have thought of this, but you see there are just too many gods- there's jesus and his dad from bible, there's Allah from quran, then there's shiva, vishnu, brahma etc from hindhu gods, then comes the Greek gods and there's the stories of dragons and demi humans in those religious books and then in some religious books there's instances of humans becoming higher existences (gods or angels) , it just feels too similar when compared to cultivation world, don't u think so?

      Presumably, you mean "jianghu"? I do have a whole video about that. Although, "cultivation" is not something particularly connected to wuxia and jianghu. It's more of a xianxia/xuanhuan thing (xianxia and xuanhuan do tend to mention the jianghu, but it's not generally the actual setting of such stories)

I remember they just absord heaven and earth energy and basically realm up from Elementary to Monarch in mortal and then goes to God Realm, start over from Divine Origin to Divine Tribulation, went through Lighting Tribulations, and all the way to Divine Master. There's no Dantian, no Nascent Soul, etc. Can someone explain the difference. I feel they just collect energy like superman goes sunbathing.

    I remember the Stellar Transformations translation referring to cultivators as Xiuzhenists, Xiumoists and Xiuyaoists if I remember correctly. Here did the translator literally used some form of warped pinyin to refer to daoist, devil and demon cultivators (combining xiu for cultivate with zhen for truth, mo for devil and yao for demon)? While staying with Yuanying Jindan and those names foe cultivation names was fine this seems kinda crappy to me. Why not just use demon/devil cultivator?

    As a Chinese person, I want to explain more accurately the difference between "xiuxing" (修行) and "xiulian" (修炼).
    "Xiuxing" usually has a broader meaning, as there is a saying: "Life is a journey of xiuxing." In the real world, without any religious connotations, xiuxing generally refers to a person actively experiencing many things, both good and bad.
    When someone goes through many experiences and understands the joys and sorrows of life, their thoughts become more mature and profound, and they come to understand the meaning of life. Therefore, xiuxing in the real world typically refers to aspects of life philosophy.
    In contrast to the broader use of "xiuxing" in the real world, "xiulian" is typically found in supernatural or fantastical literary works, such as martial arts or cultivation novels.
    "Xiulian" usually refers to the practice and training of a specific skill or martial arts style to become stronger. You could even say you are "xiulian" your muscles at the gym, though this is not how Chinese people commonly use it in everyday language; it would still convey the meaning.
    "Xiulian" is basically equivalent to "training," but with a more fantastical connotation. For example, we usually say "training muscles," but when we use "xiulian," it generally refers to magic, kung fu, or other things that don't exist in reality.

    • @kenwei8434
      @kenwei8434 3 месяца назад

      In many Chinese fantasy novels, "修行xiuxing" also encompasses the meaning of life philosophy. In these fantasy works, "修行xiuxing" often includes "修炼xiulian."
      In Chinese mythology, the source of superpowers comprises both the mental and physical aspects; your mental strength governs your physical strength, and your understanding of the world, your knowledge, etc., determine your limits.
      Therefore, most fantasy novels set "xiuxing" as superior to "xiulian."
      This is because "xiuxing" simultaneously enhances mental philosophy, physical strength, and skills, whereas "xiulian" typically only involves physical strength and combat skills, not touching upon the mental and philosophical realms.

    • @kenwei8434
      @kenwei8434 3 месяца назад

      The background worlds of xianxia fantasy literature usually draw from Chinese mythology. In these stories, superpowers come from a special kind of energy, such as "qi." Characters become stronger by absorbing this energy, potentially achieving immortality. The methods for absorbing energy are diverse and are typically various "cultivation techniques." These techniques are often depicted as methods developed by sages for harnessing energy. The techniques are also ranked, with higher-level techniques being more efficient at absorbing and utilizing energy. This is akin to different schools of martial arts, such as Tai Chi, Wing Chun, or others.
      In these novels, a common plot device involves characters engaging in various conflicts and battles over a high-level cultivation technique. Once you grasp this concept, you will understand the core of these stories. Although different authors might provide varying explanations and names for the energy, the underlying logic remains the same.
      Another classic element is the fantasy world's currency, most commonly "spirit stones." You can think of these as stones containing a large amount of energy that are easy to absorb, much like batteries. Whether it is spirit stones or some other form, you can understand them as a type of energy currency.

    in cultivation, you need to level up and collect some artefacts(can be weapon, armor, etc) to power up your character's values(be it damage, HP, dex, etc). and some games also have the rebirth/reborn system. when u reborn, u get stronger.

    Newton said in his "mathematical principles of natural philosophy," the dilemma of Galaxy vortex shape! Can't explain the relationship between planetary period and 3 / 2 power, can't explain comet phenomenon! He pointed out that the reason why celestial bodies stay in their orbits seems unlikely to be only due to the existence of the laws of gravitation. "They can never get their regular orbital positions from the very beginning." he attributed the reason why celestial bodies stay in their orbits to the rule of God! Newton did not take into account the role of electromagnetic force, said before the stars only between gravity and electromagnetic force! Einstein's time was taken into account! But Einstein attributed the maintenance of the galaxy to the rule of God! I wonder how Marx proved that materialism is truth? In Chinese middle school textbooks, Newton's "first driving force" is regarded as the target of "idealism" criticism. Sadly, like all political hats, the Chinese have never been told how the criticized "theory" is expressed. They only know that what is criticized is absurd. In addition, there are other things that do not conform to the mathematical calculation in the current observation. The current explanation is the dark matter dark energy hypothesis! This hypothesis has not been proved yet! What is truth? At present, the most logical and convincing is evolutionist materialism! But it's wrong! Mahayana Buddhism is called the Theravada Buddhism, the Dharma should be the truth! Try the meditation of Theravada Buddhism! My own body evidence is consistent with its theory. I have body attachment at present and can't continue meditation! So share it! Please take a look! note.youdao.com/s/C1ctBenI
