The changes he made in arranging this really amped up the haunting quality. I always liked this song, but now I really FEEL this song!

Geoff plays piano since he was 5 years old. He also plays armonica (see his cover of Folsom Prison Blues).

Geoff saves his Acapella for VoicePlay. On his solo channel he uses to try new things. He took piano before singing. Fun facts are Geoffs son William has started piano lessons, and Laynes daughter is taking violin lessons. Following in their father's footsteps.

Geoff is more than a singer, singers make us hear the music, Geoff is a true interpreter because he makes us feel every word said in the song.

That's a very true statement. He feels it so, through his voice we feel it. Brilliant! ❤️

13:13 AND we have the "Geoff's Range Eyeroll!" Geoff "Lion's Purr" Castellucci hits another one so far out of the park, it'll make it to Mars!

Geoff's solo videos are never a capella. He has VoicePlay for that. He creates all the musical backing for his videos, as well as arranging, singing, filming and editing it all together. His wife Karhy is a huge part of it too. I don't know when he started playing piano, but he's been singing since middle school, along with fellow VoicePlay member Layne, and an ex-member Earl, who left the group in 2020. These three were the core founder members for many years. Geoff always admired bass singers and has trained his voice over the years to reach these depths. He has made videos explaining how he did that. How To Sing Low, and How To Sing Very Low. And others answering questions.

I love this more and more every time I listen to it.
Geoff actually has a 5+ octave range. Super high and super low.
Also. He uses instruments on his solo channel but is acapella with Voiceplay.
He once said if he wants acapella he has Voiceplay for that 😊.
Geoff has been playing the piano since he was very young. Middle and high school was in the school choirs.
He always wanted to be a tenor but life has other plans for him.
He also used to perform at Universal Studios Orlando in the Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue as a baritone. His now wife Kathy was Bride of Frankenstein. Former member Tony Wakim was Dracula.
After leaving there he performed at Disney World as the Butler on the Haunted Mansion Ride.
In 1997 he, Layne Stein and former members Earl Elkins Jr, Scott Porter and Mikal Kilmore formed 4:2: Five. Which they changed to Voiceplay in 2010 right after Eli joined. Mikal and Scott had already left.
Geoff went solo 3 years ago when Voiceplay had to stop touring because of COVID-19.
His first video was "Bare Necessities" from Jungle Book.
Voiceplay's new video will be released tomorrow, Friday, the 16th. It is literally out of this world fantastic.

Done. Geoff plays piano reasonably often - you might check Shenandoah, Till Then and High and Dry. One thing that's interesting about his use of pianos is that he chooses the piano he uses in each performance to enhance the specific sound and feel he's looking for.

    • @hwyla4416

And the one we see in the video might not be the one you hear. Sometimes the 'visual' is important for his vision of the video. The piano used here is the one he keeps in his living room to play. Presumably a fave. In the Behind the Scenes on this we see that he had to literally carry this one over a block to get from where they could unload into the building.

Geoff has done three in a row showing the harmony with his clones, jack's Lament, Blue Christmas, and this one. I know it makes the video editing much easier and each of these is better with the lonely solo image. I hope he brings them back, I love watching him interact withhimself!
My introduction to Geoff was 16 Tons, from there I found Voiceplay and I have been hooked ever since!

I first heard Jack's Lament before I started the channel. 16 Tons was my first or second song of his that I reacted too. Yes! I miss the other Geoff's too! Especially Daryl. 😁

Chris Isaak is listed as a tenor and his version of this goes quite high in plac.
This is an exquisite example of Geoff's vocal dexterity 💜 🇦🇺
P.S. he also does a haunting cover of Sound of Silence. I saw another comment that said
The original was like "we should pay attention to this"
Pentatonix was like "we can still fix this, if we work together"
Disturbed was like You were warned, you didnt listen, and now yiu MUST PAY"
Geooff was like "I'm so,so sorry"

I'm not a huge fan of the original song, personally, and still somehow I LOVE Geoff's version. That lion's purr soothes the soul!

Thank you, my friend! Yes, it's a Lego Fawkes I got for Christmas a couple years ago. You turn a crank to make it's wings flap! That little Strat and Fender amp are Legos too. The attention to detail is unbelievable.
