This takes me back to when I very first started skating and had a Walmart board. Skated with the neighbor kids and they gave me some wheels bearings and trucks when they bought new ones. So I slapped em on my board, spray painted my deck, and had my own personal hoopty to learn on. That thing went through all kinds of abuse haha.

Like for kids who's parents could only afford a Wal-Mart deck, but say the kid has a friend or cousin with a back up pair of trucks and wheels.. well there you go kid get to ripping lol so dont feel discouraged!! true skaters don't judge eachother!! great vid tho.
I have a Walmart bard but I’m basically replaced a lot on it but I only have a Walmart board because Walmart and roller general are the only two stores around unless I drive an hour 30 mins for a target board

All you really have to do is loosen the wheels a little and bend the board to break it in the wheels are pretightened so you can loosen it to your desire
Yes very much my mom can’t really afford parts or anything so I use my friends old Walmart board (kryptonics) and I can do some tricks but I can’t really role but it is something that I have to appreciate!

So I bought a cheap walmart board for my first board after watching your channel. It didnt roll well, I watch this video and noticed how the bearings made a huge difference. I ordered some bearings and it rolls great now and I can actually ride it. Making some progress. I wanna thank you guys for the fun/hilarious vlogs and the kind works of encouragement! Its been a ton of fun.

Wheels are the biggest problem with cheap boards. I don't know wtf they use to make cheap wheels, but they're way too soft. They slow down very quickly, and they get extremely hot while doing it.

The point is that they wanted to improve a walmart board, and they replaced everything on it with quality parts.If they also replaced the board it would be even better.
Yeah I don't know whether they mention it in the video but the complete board is 15 bucks. You'd normally spend at least double that on just a deck.
Well, the bearings are necessary, everything else just makes it better.

As someone who was kind of flirting with the idea of just getting a cheap Walmart board and picking up how to skate that way after falling in love with your Skate Everything series, this video tipped me over - granted, I watched it at 4 AM in a Wal-Mart, at the skateboard section, but hell. Once my paycheck rolls in, I'm gonna grab quality trucks, wheels, and bearings off Amazon and a cheapo board at Wal-Mart and start skating!
At that point it wouldnt be too much more expensive to just order a new deck instead of the cheap walmart deck
DO NOT do that, save 70 dollars or so, get a mini logo deck, mini logo trucks, reds, and mini logo wheels. cheap and will be better than any Walmart deck.
you can actually find some cheap decks on eBay. popwar decks are cheap from them going out of business. you can get one for around 20 bucks.

This was my first skate board... exactly this. I changed the trucks and wheels and its amazing (I tore off the design on the bottom and painted a galaxy)

I've done what you guys did for my nephew he had a Walmart deck and I had old trucks and wheels I put on for him and the difference was amazing. Really that's all you can upgrade on a Walmart board cuz the grip tape peals off all nasty, ripping chucks off to deck but yea you can make a Walmart board better

This is actually somewhat helpful. I've been thinking of learning to skate but there aren't any skate shops near me. I don't want to spend a fortune on my first board just in case I decide it's not for me, and it's going to be way cheaper for me to buy a kryptonics board and some new wheels and bearings (I actually found one that has aluminum trucks instead of plastic) than to find an entire set-up online and have it shipped to me. I'm really glad this video exists because I was genuinely starting to get discouraged.

I have to say it’s amazing how far cheap skatebords have come. I’m 31…got my first skateboard at 8 years old. It was like $20 from Toys R Us. It didn’t even have counter sunk truck screws, had zero concave, and was super heavy. You could barely ollie it. Now a days it seems you can actually get a halfway decent board from the corporate stores.

the reason why the board got steadily slower is because the wheels are made of wax and not polyurethane. so they melt while riding and get a bunch of shit in the bearings causeing them to slow down. i had to learn on walmart boards cause i dont have the money for full completes. i have a good professional complete now but i had to save up for like a year.
at skate warehouse in was gonna buy a complete for 57 bucks a Santa Cruz deck royal trucks bones wheels spit fire cheapshots bearings and grizzly grip I think that's cheap I'm gonna try to cop

The wheels on my Walmart board completely split open. Bought new ones and new bearings, and loosened up the trucks a bit and it made it 10x better
