One of my hobbies is metal detecting. Those are all real pennies. Pennies from 1982 and older are mostly copper. Anything after 1982 is mostly zinc. They started minting shield back pennies in 2009.
Yeah back in the day a lot of these machines made you supply your own pennies and it didn't matter how tarnished they were the crushing made them shiny and blank on the back side.
Canada still produced copper pennies after the US had stopped until 1996, and because the copper in the pennies were worth more than the penny people from the US would buy them up for their scrap value. Canada got rid of all pennies in 2012 because they cost more to produce than they were worth.
One thing about Disney, there are rabbit holes for everything you want to collect. Pennies, pins, apparel, popcorn buckets etc. a person could go broke collecting stuff.
Fun fact. In 1955 6.76 cents had the same purchasing power as a whole 2024 dollar. I know this because I have a 1955 viewmaster booklet ( came with a vintage 56 viewmaster viewer) that says you could get 3 reels for a dollar, and I went on eBay and Etsy and found the equivalent brand new 2020s product at cheapest is 15 bucks.
I remember the living seas ride back in the 80s the best part was when the ride went sideways and followed the large live fish tank. I’ll never forget that.
Thanks for sharing you penny pressing adventure. It's a fun hobby, and we love tracking them down all over Disney property and other roadside attractions. Keep up the great work!
Note Adam we collected the pennies in the early 2,000’s when my kids were little(they loved to crank the wheel) and learned to get shiny pennies from cast members then immediately put them in the collector books because it would keep them in pristine condition instead of brushing against each other . Just a pro tip. My kids now in their 20’s still love looking at them today.

I have collected some Disneyland crushed pennies and from other places whenever I went on vacations. There are supposed to be three pennymachines at pizzerizzo’s one that has a pizzerizzo logo and the other machine has muppets 3D Pennies in the outdoor eating area.
My son loves the crushed pennies. Twenty years ago every Disney visit I brought a bag of quarters and pennies to get whatever he wanted, he thought twisting that handle was the greatest thing!!!! Are you not putting in your own pennies??😊
Leaving Epcot on the Friendship Boats to Hollywood Studios takes about 25-30 minutes. They stop at Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach Clubs, Swan & Dolphin before the final stop at Hollywood Studios. (It’s a nice walk, too!) 😊
I've been collecting squished pennies since the 1990s .back when you got to turn the crank and squish the penny you put in the machine . Now they are just copper slugs and most are automatically squished. I have several books...including squished quarters. I don't like the automatic ones . I only like the ones that use actual pennies that is squished by turning the crank and there are very few of them now.
Love that you’re collecting the pressed Pennie’s .. may I suggest possibly sliding a colored card behind each penny? It would definitely make them “pop”(easier to see the penny ) Michael’s or Hobby lobby may sell something for this type of books (baseball cards etc..). But regardless great video. Love the adventures w Jacob the Carpetbagger. ❤❤❤
12:25 Stitch: Sits in sand in a moment from his actual movie, set in Hawaii, famously surrounded by sand. Adam & JCB: Is that dung? Maybe, I think it's snow!
600? I'd git them all. Do you supply your own in some of the machines? I have a lot of slight goofed coins that would be perfect. I think they are using non-copper. I have some and the date is so clear 1959! Sick!!!
Might have to copy Adam. The pennies seem like a good way to collect something without going broke and without needing an entire room to display your collection.
nice the person spit into the garbage can and not the ground. he probably saw you were going to take too much time, so he had to come in and spit. it is a garbage can not a table..

In travel town in Griffith Park ( I know you went there) we had to put a Penny in the machine then 50 cents to get one of those. I always thought you had to put a penny in and the penny you put in got crushed.🤷🏻♀️

While you can use cash to pay for your pressed penny, you no longer need to search for a shiny, brand-new penny! As this Disney Parks Blog article mentions, the coin press machines are now filled with brand-new, uncirculated pennies!
Disney says no sticks on rides. That is a stick. I am finding video streaming on rides to be rude and annoying. What if I am on camera without my consent? I tell people I do not like being on camera voice when I see cameras. Consent. I think bloggers some of them are very rude.
Yes, those are the "backs" of an actual pennies. Stitch also looks like he is sitting behind a mound of food. It is called a "Five and Dime".
It's the reverse of a US Cent.
Stitch would be playing in a pile of sand as would be found on a Hawaiian beach.
Haha I thought that was hilarious!! I was yelling "but it is a real penny!!" 😂😂 actually really sad people don't know that

He's definitely "special"
They also used to have quarter presses. Got a bunch of them
I like to turn my pressed Pennies into pins by gluing a push pin on the back, that way I can display them instead of putting them in a book
The dynamic duo! Great video!

He does a lot on his Channel Jacob the Carpetbagger. If you don't already subscribe to him I would recommend his channel.
