    Aye love the Distant Worlds stuff. It is one of those games I always want to try but never pull the trigger on. So I just watch people play instead. Your series are always the most fun to see.

    Looks very interesting!
    Specializing in fighters and boarding will be a nice variation. What weapons will synergize well with them? My guess would be ions as they disable systems so more salvage. And missiles as you need to overload point defense with both missiles and fighters for them to get through. Do ion missiles exist? Or can you make a nice mix of both?
    Iirc escorts are trash to always skip and you'll dump frigates once you get destroyers. With this race, will keeping (specialized) frigates mixed with all purpose destroyers be nice? Like missile frigates and carrier/ion/tank destroyers? Or will beelining (pun intended) to cruisers be nice for better carrier capacity?
    Will seeking out specific efficiency techs, like better engines, reactor, fuel storage, be enough to squeeze in more weapons?

      I was tempted to go with missiles but with the boarding you have to get close so I'm a bit torn. Ion could be a good shout mind.

      This game has some serious balance issues.
      Blasters on fighters vastly outperform any other weapon type on fighters, to the point of them being the only reasonable choice. So since Gizurean focus on fighters, the only right choice for their weapons are blasters. Dumb, but probably most effective synergy would be to not even use any other weapons on actual ships and just run hangars, because that way you get more total hangar slots in your fleet for the same cost, because weaponless ships are cheaper so you can have more.
      For hulls, I strongly believe it will be most effective to just spam the hull type which has the cheapest access to hangar slots. So that would be a light destroyer, assuming their hull hangar slot amounts are same as Ackdarian and Teekan.

    Just FYI, an independent trader cannot bring you resources that don't exist in the area, so you can be screwed, especially if you play with systems more spread out.

      True, I mostly play with favorable starting system because of that. You're usually fine then
