Moyu has been making really nice budget cubes lately. Since the R3SM, there wasn't a puzzle as good it with that low price until now. There's the RS3M Super with 3 versions, and the YS3M with 3 versions, all versions are amazing.
Definitely true, but the more expensive RS3M Supers are pretty much no longer a budget cube I'd say. Sub-50$ yes, but not budget. With the right setup they are truly amazing. I also really like the Moyu Weilong WRM v9 Maglev. Extremely good for the money. I have zero regrets not getting the slightly more expensive Ball Core version.
That strange tool is a spacer to calibrate the, the, um, spacing of the centers from the cores. I tried it once; didn't like it. I have other means for getting the spacing right.
I'm not sure if you have the same experience as me. I got the ball core version, and I find that it seems almost impossible to speed up the cube. Out of the box it's extremely slow, and no matter which lube I use (i.e. dignitas/gravitas, max, celeritas etc), the cube just doesn't speed up at all. Adjusting tensions doesn't help either. For me, the cube ended up being totally unusable and I got almost 2 seconds slower in average. Oh well...
I didn't like this cube out of the box. Actually it reminds me a lot of Gan 11 M Duo which I didn't like even more, for me it feels almost like the same cube but lower quality. I changed my mind a little bit after breaking it down. I got frosted version and out of the box it felt like cheapest plastic in the world but after breaking it's fine, also out of the box it was even louder than it is usual which is really bad (for me) and it still quite too loud. Quite too strong magnets is other thing which I don't like because it feels too tactile but after breaking it feels a bit less actually. UV coat is too much about personal preference, I got UV Gan 13 and frosted every other cube I believe except tornado v2 and tengyun v1 (which are just glossy) and I don't think I would prefer UV. For me personally it would be perfect to have semi-glossy plastic exactly like on Super RS3M.
I really love it, but as a owner of XMDV3 and The Super RS3M, is it a overkill to buy this one ? Since cubicle preferred the super rs3m more Edit: thank you for the explanation.

I used those last time I put a cube back together, it was clunky to use, but it did get the tensions perfect first try for me

From the reviews of this cube it seems pretty good, but I don't think I will like it more than my TengYun V3.

cubicle preferred the standard super rs3m over the standard ys3m. But preferred the ys3m ballcore over the ballcore super rs3m.
