I am blind. I love Meshuggah and I’ve loved them from even before I went blind. And this came up in my suggestion feed when I was simply looking for Meshuggah reaction videos because I enjoy hearing people’s take on the band and also the insight that a lot of them give into the Music membership of certain songs. That being said, I had no idea what “rock Smith“ meant, but I’m guessing it is some sort of game like guitar hero or something. So I was taken by other surprise when I heard a bunch of flailing at the strings of a guitar and someone speaking alongside them claiming that they have no idea going on and sounded completely confused and Exasperated as this song went on. I was laughing my ass off because I soon realized that it was actually the song being performed to a sort of soundtrack in a different key than the song itself. And when I realize that and started to click, I could then follow along, and I knew exactly which part of the song that you were in as it went on, and I looked forward to certain sections, and I really loved when you reached the “solo“ section and you were tied by wait a minute I thought that was supposed to be a solo type exclamations. This was a very entertaining video and I laughed pretty much the whole time. And a lot of of it is because of you getting in way over your head by going into the song blind without ever having heard the band before. So I do admit that a lot of my entertainment came from Your reaction to the chaos and time changes and such of the different instruments and such of the song. But like others have said in the comments, there are other songs that you can also listen to to get feels from a sugar when you have the time. And they have made some suggestions and one of them in particular I like, and they said the first song on the album called “destroy erase improve“, and that song is titled “future breed machine“. I’d love that song I think it’s amazing and I think it’s a little easier for newer, Meshuggah listeners to wrap their head around because sections of it are somewhat inspired by thrash metal in the double base drumming, and such that isn’t used in the song that you just listen to, bleed, or I meant to say performed. And future breed machine has very technical aspects to it, but it’s not what insurance it’s not what Meshuggah would call “endurance metal“, which they have described their music as in a joking matter in a joking way. And bleed is certainly an example of the so-called endurance metal that they play because it really does a number on the performers who try to cover that song. I apologize if this post is nearly unreadable because of missing words and such, I do not have a proper keyboard on this device and so I am composing it with voice to text.
Sir, you really made my whole day just by commenting and leaving this here. I really wholeheartedly appreciate you, and honestly it made me so happy to hear you were throughly entertained! Yes Rocksmith is basically like Guitar Hero, except you can plug in a REAL guitar and play songs. It's honestly genius. Rocksmith is my favorite game. You can plug any guitar in and just play with Rocksmith! I will definitely take your suggestions on Meshuggah if they happen to have the songs on RS. I really appreciate you making this comment and have a great day!!! 💙🎸🤘
Dude, I can't even imagine how you did it. Losing your sight while sighted is probably one of the worst things (besides death) that can happen. Proud of you. You continue to live and at least have something to be happy about. I couldn't do that.
Meshuggah have nine studio albums, their first being 1991. They signed a new contract in 2022 which usually means three albums, two to come. They're in their fifties now.
@@CrazyAwesome my favorite is a song called I, meshuggah won’t even play it live, actually it was never made to be played live. There is an actual cover of it on RUclips. It took me years to like meshuggah, now I love them once I appreciated what they are actually doing.
It's like an endurance test lol This version is missing the vocals and sounds a little odd but meshuggah is known for their outrageous rhythmic patterns and time signatures. The drummer had to teach himself a different way of playing to keep up with the patterns on this album. It's quite impressive watching his live drum video of this song.
Welcome back man, how was your Thanksgiving? We had a small gathering of 8 people. It was nice. I ended up doing a lot of the cooking this year. I hope everyone is doing well.
Thanks bro, it was actually really good all things considered!!! It was great to see my aunt/uncle/grandmother again, but also really happy to be home. We actually had a gathering of 8 as well! Thanks so much for welcoming me back and I should be posting more throughout the week! (I'm ordering a new mic & camera so videos may be a little slow in the process of transitioning)
The reason its so crazy to you is because if I remember correctly… they said in an interview that they treat the guitar as a percussion instrument a lot of the time.
@@CrazyAwesome Many lol but heres a few. -Born in dissonance -break those bones whose sinews gave it motion -new millennium cyanide christ -Combustion They're considered the Godfather's of the metal sub-genre 'djent'. Their 'thing' is that they can much such complex rhythm fit with 4/4. Although its pretty often they are using odd time signatures. I appreciate their guitarist a lot. I've never heard another guitarist do solos quite like him. They're odd...but addicting.
Lol…you don’t have the guitar to play that song (it’s an 8 string guitar). Also, try listening to the actual song to know what it’s supposed to sound like (way better than that stupid Rockstar version). Do NOT watch the official music video. They edited out like the last 3+ minutes of the song, including the guitar solo. If anything, watch the Thomas Haake live drum cam performance of the song. It has studio quality audio and you can see they can actually somehow play the damn thing live. Also, they are masters of polyrhythms. Go watch Yogev Gabay’s explanations of the patterns in their songs. It’s very insightful to see how they structure their music (imagine creating sections of music 128 eight notes (so, basically 16 measures of 4/4) and then dividing them into 2 through 5 beat patterns creating a five time repeating phrase of 23 beats that then finishes off with one final 13 beat phrase to finish the 128 beat section. That’s how they write).
Really interesting.... yeah I got a feeling when I played this that it was stripped back. I do have a seven string guitar but I'm not sure if that would be enough.... Watching how they songwrite would be really interesting!
@ their first couple albums were recorded on 7 strings. You could play Future Breed Machine or New Millennium Cyanide Christ. Starting with their album Nothing, they moved to 8-strings guitars (they actually released it playing on 7-strings because their guitars were late being delivered and rerecorded and rereleased it later). They plot most of their rhythms out on computer.
Definitely not an easy one to go in blind to. The drums are notoriously hard to keep up with. 😅 But this also doesnt sound anything like the real version, I dont know why anyone would want a version in E standard like this.
Meshuggah is way unconventional to begin with and the backing track etc... is a very bad representation. Sucks this was your intro. Opening track on Destroy, Erase, Improve is amazing.
@@chriswooldridge1301 Thanks man! Generally the charts are much better on RS but yeah this one wasn't that good. Hopefully the next one should be a lot better!
